Welcome Gazlan…(come to think of it, I never had a welcome message when I joined – I feel I’m missing out)

I’ve not clicked the link…mainly as it involves effort and I really don’t “do” effort.

I’m assuming (yes I know one should never assume) that it’s some sort of “anti council tax” blurb about how we’re all being ripped off, written by some jumped up little twonk who feels that everything in life should be free……

    Each to their own.

I’m more than happy to pay council tax each month, bins don’t empty themselves , pot holes don’t heal themselves and the police force are short on volunteers. Ohhhh and funnily enough we’ve not managed to harness the power of glow worms on an industrial street lighting scale.

Of course, if the website isn’t anything to do with that, then I apologise to the twonk (for now) and continue to live in my happy, chewy, fluffy little world.

*Disclaimer* I do realise that the range of products and services provided as a result of my council tax payment is far greater than I’ve mentioned here.

I’ve very much noticed the rise in costs, my typical monthly spend for everything food/cleaning/toiletries/pet wise was £200, that’s for 2 adults/2 kids/2 cats and a parrot. we only eat meat 3 times a week (a personal preference of quality over quantity), everything is made from scratch, from pasta/pastry to sauces/wine/beer. I luckily have the time and the skills to do this but appreciate that some don’t have the time or “want” to do it.

I’ve now had to reassess my budget (yes, I’m that anal) based on the last 2 months spends and have now had to allow £280 per month to maintain the standard that we want to achieve.

One of the main offenders lately is cat food – 24 tins used to be around £7.50 and it’s now £9.40.

Shopping around is the key, bulk buying on offers that you’ll use and realising that you don’t need 57 different products to clean your house with, a spray bottle of water mixed with a splosh of white vinegar (a natural antiseptic) and a squirt of washing up liquid cleans anything and everything. Value washing power mixed with soda crystals works just as well as the leading brand and using half the amount you’d normally use is more than enough.

I can’t agree that to eat healthily you need to eat expensively, I ensure that my family have their “5 a day” but most days it’s more, cheaper cuts of good meat, if cooked right, aren’t bad for you.

I personally couldn’t bring myself to spend 100’s a week on food and the like, I’d much rather enjoy my money in other ways.

PS Amelia I have a very good spellbook and a hefty cauldon if you ever need them

    I have references too 8)

Homemade references scribbled on the back of an envelope in purple crayon? I’ve got some of them too!

Oh and….your spellbook….any spells in there to improve the spelling and grammar in F3? I’d be your bestest friend for life if you could arrange that.

    O:)

This weekend will see me pushing the limits of excitement to the very edge.

Tomorrow morning 11am sharp sees the arrival of “parents” – by 11.10am the female parent will be doing something “useful” clearing out the cutlery draw is her fav (I must be such a disappointment)..the male parent will be armed with a screwdriver and will offer to fix things that aren’t even broken. At 11.15am I shall be suggesting a walk along the beach to break the tension.

Repeat this on Sunday with the arrival of “in-laws” and my weekend is just complete!

On the plus side – going to show my daughters around our new house – they’re so excited they might just burst (which might give my mother something else to clean up)
