Judging by the speed with which he is posting his usual Friday night quality stuff …. I’d say he’s got a head start with the booze. Things can only get progressively more incoherent.
Prediction: He’ll still be ranting and doing sheep impressions far into the early hours. I’m offering to predict his last post as being 3.25am
13 June, 2008 at 10:16 pm #345038nah he’s been on since 8.30 this morning

Non EU investment flooded in…
You do have to wonder how much of that investment would have flooded in had Ireland not been part of the European Community, though. It strikes me as hubris to seek to minimise its effects.
Still, the result is in. I hope there might be a sense developing within Europe that the to go might be to be even more radical and try and properly engage the peoples of Europe.
13 June, 2008 at 10:28 pm #345041I suspect that investment ”floods in” because the investors think they’ll get a good return. I’m not convinced that this is simply because of a membership of the EU.
It would be a novelty indeed if our masters in the EU were to make the slightest attempt to engage with the ‘people’ …. but i don’t see this happening in our lifetimes, if at all.
13 June, 2008 at 10:28 pm #345042One thing is for damned sure, this country will never get a referendum on Europe in any way, shape or form whilst the people of other countries keep voting NO.

I totally agree. The one thing that all politicians are terrified of is the ‘people’ truly expressing their democratic opinion.
13 June, 2008 at 10:38 pm #345044In the good old days of 1997 when New (contradiction in terms) Labour promised us on their election mandate, a referendum who would have thought that 11 years later we would still be waiting for it? And on top of that they went back on their mandate promise and said the referendum wouldn’t necessarily be recognised. It could be passed as null and void. And now they just refuse to have a debate or referendum on Europe. Who is hiding what? It confuses me.
