Have just seen this on Sky and i must admit i think its appauling!
A schoolgirl who became pregnant at the age of 11 is set to break the record for being the UK’s youngest mother. Now aged 12, she has told a national newspaper how she is “really excited” about the prospect of having a child after losing her virginity to a boy aged 15 in Edinburgh. She is due to give birth in a few weeks, breaking the record set by Jenny Teague of Dorset, who had a baby aged 12 years and nine months in 1997.The girl, who has not been named, told The Sun: “I think I’ll be able to cope as I’ve had lots of practice looking after my brothers.” She feared that she might be pregnant after having unprotected sex with the boy on a night out with friends in Edinburgh last August. The pregnancy was confirmed with the help of a supermarket home-testing kit.Her 34-year-old mother told the newspaper: “I’m not ashamed of my daughter at all – in fact, I’m proud of her for keeping her baby.”The mum-to-be, who smokes up to 20 cigarettes a day according to the newspaper, said she hoped the baby would be a boy.”I’m enjoying being pregnant – even though I get a bit of a sore back and sore ribs,” she said.
I think children expect babies to be like dolls and they are not fit emotionally to have children.
Children having children is awful.

12 May, 2006 at 4:21 pm #215230an argument for abortion could come up here
12 May, 2006 at 8:33 pm #215231How can a child take care of a child? Just breeding ignorance if you ask me. But most likely the grandmother (4 years older than I am  ) will be the one taking care of the baby. Has there been any word on what the fathers involvement will be? I don’t believe in abortion and I think there are a lot of good people out there who will buy the baby and provide a good life for it. Maybe the girl’s mother could convince her to do that and put the money aside for her college or something. Just an idea. The 12 year is too young to be paying for such a mistake for the rest of her life.

It’s not completely un-heard of though. I can’t speak of your court systems there, but I’d rather see a child in stable home rather than a foster home. It’s not the baby’s fault that her parents conceived him/her too young and the grandmother is an idiot for supporting her daughter. I know a baby shouldn’t have a cash figure attached – but that is the world we live in. Pick lesser of the two evils if you ask me.

The girl also commited a crime, neither will be punished, just another case why new labour and their political allies at conservative and lib dem headquarters believe crime is ok :(

I dont see how this is anything to do with politics, its just bad up bringing in my view. But can someone clear this up for me if a girl under 16 has sex with a boy under 16 its rape, but what about the boy hes under 16 aswell so isnt it rape both ways? Something i have never thought about and i really dont know either as its mainly girls under 16 and men over 16 i have heard of :?
