20 October, 2008 at 7:54 am #381060For entertainment value, JLS came out tops for me. Not the best voices in the competition, but livened things up. Apart from them everyone played it safe with Michael Jackson Ballads.. total bore fest. I don’t know the names but I like the little blonde lass with the squeeky voice, she should win for quirkiness. ( is that a word?) :)

I keep on picking up on the implication (from Simon) that Louis is gay and that is why he is into the “boy bands”. Hmmmmmm not too sure about this.
For all his abrasive comments and so on, Simon is an acknowledged expert in his field and is paid a serious lot of money to know what he is talking about. I find that his critiques of the various acts show a remarkable insight into the pop music industry – he tells them what he really thinks instead oof going all mushy and flattering them…… unlike the two female judges.
Without him the show would simply degenerate into a load of “luvvy” flattery and back slapping.

Dont wanna be called a kiss ass but…….
I agree
20 October, 2008 at 3:02 pm #381064To add to the above comments on Simon. The thing I find fascinating is watching an expert in his own field working. I am not that good with music. If a singer is really off key I’ll notice it, but the slight nuances that differentiate between a really good performance and a mediocre one … I’ll miss.
Listening to his judgements is amazing in that he seems to be able to pick up on the smallest thing and explains its importance to the singer…… things that frankly I didn’t notice at the time but, when you listen to his critiques, make perfect sense.
For me this is the fascinating part of the show. Yes it’s all showbiz glitz but behind it you can see and feel the professionalism.
