Some covers are so bad that the’re good – like Rolf Harris’ Stairway to Heaven. One of the all-time great missed opportunities was one for Led Zeppelin to reform to record a cover of ‘Tie me Kangaroo Down, Sport’.
Some cover versions are better than the originals – only we often don’t realise they’re covers. I think the Pet Shop boys’ version of ‘Always on my Mind’ was better than the Elvis Presley original. Or was Elvis’s version a cover too, perhaps?

the fine young cannibals dis a cover of suspisious minds and i think its great :D
I have to agree with Geordie bird the fine young cannibals version of “Suspicious minds” is tremendous. Also will Youngs version of the old Sade clasisc “You’re love is king” is very good as well.
