Disgraceful performance, we have a team of exceptional players in their own right playing appallingly the whole tournament, they didnt deserve to get through, the defence was non existant, they ball skill was dodgy, the headlines should be Rooney’s lost it, as ive heard that phrase so many times. Having Rooney play for germany wasnt our best move, why was gerrard stilll out where he was why wasnt crouch bought on, joe cole and wright phillips should have been on a long tiem before Rooney should have only been played the second half if at all, and the disallowed goal must have been a killer too, but no excuses they were shyte, as for Cappello he needs fcuking off outta there, and get a bloody english manager in that can speak english and ego isnt bigger than the players too.
well done to Germany they deserved that win and England were lucky they didnt lose by a whole lot more27 June, 2010 at 10:40 pm #441086A proper shambles. Another little piece of me has died.
27 June, 2010 at 10:48 pm #441087We never were good enough, what world class players we have are trumped by other teams world class players. Most of the team were overpaid wannabees anyway. Still at least there’s a four year contract signe by Capello BEFORE the world cup. Well done FA that’ll cost us millions when we have to get rid of him.

8 July, 2010 at 4:34 pm #4410919 July, 2010 at 6:31 pm #441092Well the one thing that has been proven is that the best teams are the ones who, well . . . . play like proper teams.
If you ever get the ball off Spain then expect to be surrounded by 4 of their well-rehearsed and hard working players immediately closing you down. It’s no good being like Argentina and appointing a mascot/national icon as manager, in the modern game you need to have a plan. And that plan needs to be made 10 years ago if the stats about UEFA qualified coaches are to be believed.
Brazil had a mad half-hour against the Dutch and paid for it severely. John Terry’s very public chest-thumping was simply embarrassing, New Zealand over-performed and Ghana proved the benefit in having a settled manager with time to get things right, unlike the superbly talented Ivory Coast and their very late managerial appointment in Sven.
If you want to win the World Cup then some professional people need resources and time. If England could add their traditional qualities to a modern system then we’d be sensational, but it will never happen with so many conflicting interests and power plays going on right now. The most influential person in our national game is a very poor ex-chairman of Sheffield Wednesday.
The main thing is . . . . . .an Arsenal player will be clutching a World Cup Winner’s medal on Sunday night.

12 July, 2010 at 8:31 am #441093the whole thing was a huge disapointment , in footbal terms that is, coz south africa put on a really good show ,the final itself was ruined by the dutch who couldnt get near spain so used thuggish tactics which were at times down right crude , i didnt care who won at the start but was right behind spain by half time, howard webb did ok in a aweful game to referee, didnt wanna send anyone off in a world cup final but holland should of ended with 8 men
14 July, 2010 at 8:22 pm #441094pretty much agree with that. The ancestors of Cruyff are spinning in their graves as we post.
Great attacks look good on the highlights . . . . . . . . . . . but it’s great defences that win these tournaments.
You can’t do a whole lot when you don’t even have the ball. -
