( Source: Reuters)Woman’s remains found in animal rights case
LONDON (Reuters) – Police searching for the body of a dead woman dug up by animal rights activists as part of a campaign of intimidation confirmed on Thursday they had found her remains.
The grave of Gladys Hammond, related to the owners of a guinea pig farm in Newchurch, Staffordshire, was desecrated in October 2004.
Four animal rights protesters have admitted plotting to blackmail the owners of the farm that bred the animals for medical research and will be sentenced later this month.
Police said the remains were found on Tuesday afternoon on land near a German war cemetery at Broadhurst Green, near Hednesford in Staffordshire.
A police spokeswoman said on Thursday that the remains had been confirmed as those of Hammond following tests by a Home Office pathologist and dental checks. Hammond died in 1997 aged 82.
The desecration of her grave in a churchyard in Yoxall, Staffordshire, was the worst incident in a long-running campaign against David Hall and Partners who ran their family business at Darley Oaks Farm.
How these people can possibly justify their cause by these kind of actions is totally beyond me. They should be treated no better than murderers!!!

I think it was a sick and twisted thing to do – as if any good was going to come of it in the long run.
I am glad for the family that the remains have been found, and hopefully she can now rest in peace.
I hope the four grave-robbers get what’s coming to them.

As far as they are concerned, some good did come out of it …. The farm closed, so mission accomplished, so to speak.
Some victory though eh Lamby, personally I think they should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. After all, if such atrocities were carried out on members of THIER!! families, their the type of people who would be baying for blood.
Their motto is probably ‘don’t do as I do, do as I say’

I remember watching the program about this some months ago and what I got out of it was the knowledge that what these people have done has been very much frowned upon by other animal right activists who protest peacefully. All this has done is raise the profile but give a wrong impression of the good work that they do.
