Can anyone recommend a wireless router that actually works plz. I have been trying a Belkin 1 for the past two days and they r supposed to be 1 of the best. But even Virgin help line say they can be “temperamental”, ur telling me! It took 2hrs of repeating the same procedure to get the thing up and running! Then it appeared to work fine, but the 1 site it would not work with was Just Chat lol! the text in the room kept sticking, and would not do Pms.
I have Windows XP on my PC, but not Vista, when I get a laptop soon, that will have Vista so the wireless router needs to be compatable with both.
I am returning this 1 to the store and would like to know if anyone knows of one that actually works properly before I try another. Please help me. I am a damsel in distress!
:(
I have Virgin Broadband and it is delivered via cable it is not ASDL and it is not delivered via a Bt telephone line. My speed is aprrox 2Mb.16 February, 2008 at 9:47 am #312550Belkin is a perfectly good make of modem. If you are really bothered you could try Netgear – just as good and cost is roughly comparable.
However, it may not be the modem itself that it the problem but the ”strength” or speed of the wireless connection in which case changing modem manufacturers wouldn’t be any use.
I’m assuming that you have a Broadband connection (up to 8MB speed) and that you are getting an actual 2-5MB connection speed. Secondly is your Broadband delivered to your home down a telephone line (ADSL) or do you have a ‘cable’ connection with the Broasdband coming into the home via a fibre optic cable and an adaptor? (Typically Virgin is a telephone supplied service – ADSL – and is delivered to you via your ordinary BT telephone line).
Can you tell us what wireless protocol yoor wireless modem is using. For example is it ‘Wireless-G’. Maybe you could take a look at the beast and post the model number?

There are two kinds of wireless router, one for phones lines and one for cable.
Where did you get it?
Do you have cable or phone line?
