I dont care how much debt he was in. He had NO right to take his wife and daughter with him. fgs she was only 15 years old. Poor kid.

I agree that it would have been a bit more elegant blowing his own brains out and leaving his family alone.

But this guy was a serial bankrupt. He spent his creditor’s money on improving the family home; buying horses etc for his child; no doubt buying expensive gifte for his wife; and so on – all with other people’s money.

His company (which he had milked dry) was already in Administration; the Administrative Receiver would undoubtedly have impounded everything that he owned, to go towards the company’s indebtedness.

The bubble was just about to burst. The bailiffs were going to call the day after he did it. I guess he took the only way out that he could think of at the time.

The thing I find most surprising is that his ‘family’ apparently knew nothing of all this but – so it seems – continued to enjoy a wealthy and successful lifestyle. Maybe he couldn’t face the prospect of them being turned out onto the streets penniless etc.

So it was shame that made him do it? He didn’t want them finding out what kind of fake he really was. The act of a coward then.

I could understand it if he was derranged with grief etc., but this sounds cold and calculating.

Not to me it doesn’t..more the act of of someone trapped and despairing, and as PB intimated, someone who couldn’t bear the thought of leaving his wife and child behind to face the music and end up in penury.
We none of us know, so is there the slightest possible chance that we don’t use this tragedy to play bat and ball with? This whole blame game gets tedious after a while.

I think the whole situation is very sad, and what a dreadful waste of life. I read somewhere that someone had been offered £50,000 to kill him. Now thats a bit odd, but perhaps he was trying to get someone to kill him so his wife and child had the insurance money.

Shouldn’t life be more important than money?

Any way you look at it is sheer cold blooded murder.

I agree, although a sad story, whatever the reason.

Its becoming so commonplace now… suicide over debt. This one was particularly cruel though wasnt it?

Life is more important than money!
