    For legal reasons, “die-hard” fans will write what they think will happen next in a series, by not reading or accepting these there are no copyright issues, so they are destroyed and never read…

    Are you referring to fan fiction? So if you take fan fiction to a book signing, the writing is taken away? If so, I wonder if its done to discourage people from ‘pitching’ to the author?

    Exactly, because if for example JK Rowling reads it and uses the idea in her next book she will be sued by that person as they seek to do that. It was Stephen Fry that mentioned it in a interview, as he was curious as to why it was happening at a book signing.

    I sort of under stand all this even if not fully…not enough to comment any thing of any value apart from the fact that copyright is a very interesting subject and can go very deep.
