I just spent 2 nights away exploring Herefordshire and stayed in B&Bs that had en-suite, TV, nice surroundings . . . £25/night for siungle £35 for double.

Hotels are about twice the price and what do you get extra?
    – availability of evening meal & drinks on the premesis.

    Not a lot more.

So who actually uses hotels and why?

very rare do i book into a hotel, use mostly travel lodges when i can, though i did once take a girlfriend to a really nice hotel, got a s……. out of it, so was worth the extra pence, and i enjoyed the facilities on offer too

but no.. i much prefer camping, a lot more fun

I used to stay in a hotel for 3 nights a week over a period of 8 months.
It was due to the work I did.
I’m with Matty – camping is great fun. When I say “with Matty” I mean I agree with him. We broke up ages ago. :(

The beauty of an hotel as opposed to a B&B, is the relative anonymity and privacy with which one can go about one’s business. When staying in B&Bs, I was always aware of being in someone else’s home, and having to tiptoe around, observing proprieties. In fact we once got..erm..ejected from a B&B when a member of our party got blind drunk and fell asleep in the bath, leaving the frantic owner to break down the door.
