AHH you were watching tonights episodes, yes they were a tad wet, but overall PB, friends is a top top show.
Whats ya fav comedy?
I apologise for having to disagree with you Emma, but Friends’ is total unmitigated crap. If you mentally blank out the canned laughter (which is only there to tell you when the scriptwriters have made a ‘joke’) the dialogue is utterly inane. They seem to think that even the act of walking into a room and saying ”Hi everybody” is hilariously funny.
Makes me want to throw up!!!
My favourite comedies?? I love Monty Python. Fawlty Towers is incredibly funny, even 20 years on. And the grandaddy of them all (and very few of you will remember this one) …. At Last The 1948 Show. now THAT was a real comedy show.
Oh and I mustn’t forget the ‘Yes Minister’ series, very clever, extremely funny and a marvellous parody on politicians and (un)civil servants.
Set alongside genuinely funny and entertaining comedy like these shows, ‘Friends’ pales into insignificance.
As they say, with ‘Friends’ like these who needs enemies???

Well … come on.. own up. Who really really hates friends???
It’s the bloody awful laughter that comes with them that gets me. Always when it’s least expected, totally out of context, and utterly utterly meaningless.
In they come and one of the ghastly creatures says … “Like it’s soooo …Oh …my…. Gaaahd” or something equally moronic and out of nowhere come this manic cackling.
Sometimes they even hug each other and the women start crying idiot fake tears and mwahh mwahh’ing each other. Stupid bunch of imbeciles.
I wouldnt mind if they were faintly amusing, but oh no … you have to tolerate then for half an hour or an hour or so and then off they go again cackling and squealing hysterically into the night.
I loathe and detest friends ………… do you???
did’nt know if you was describing Just Chat or Friends then, i watch it when its on but make no special effort, but its more to do with jennifer anniston then anything else
1 December, 2006 at 12:51 pm #251943OK, I will admit that Jennifer Aniston is quite tasty … on a cold day. But how long would you put up with the incessant squealing and posturing? When she’s having a conversation and says ”It’s ..like …so …. Oh my God ….” etc, I mean what’s THAT all about???
Humping her must be similar to a near death experience. She’d be primping her hair and checking her makeup whilst you do your duty (that’s the jig-a-jig-a-jig thing BTW). When you ask her how it was for her (if you’re daft enough) – she’d probably reply “It’s because I’m worth it.”
and finally………….
Why oh why do they ALWAYS sit around three sides of a table in American sitcoms? No matter how many people there are – they never sit round all four sides do they?
1 December, 2006 at 2:54 pm #251944if i need a laugh il stick to watching fat people run or failing that il watch only fools and horses

because sadly PB friends isnt a studio based comedy well it is in the sense that is/was filmed in a studio but they used a live audience each show. if you sat round in 4s then how could the audience see the people properly??
BUT!!! on another note!! YES MINISTER!! now there was a show! very ahead of its time if you watch it back again now PB you will see things they joked about then becoming reality now! but a very funny tv show.
1 December, 2006 at 5:27 pm #251946I take your point about the studio audience TM – but this is at the heart of my rant.
The studio audience contribute absolutely nothing at all, other that to stuff up the casmera angles for the huge audience watching it ‘on air’. The ghastly cackling and tittering they call laughter is ”canned” and pumped out around every third sentence to keep the ‘real’ audience awake and tell them when to laugh.
This ‘Friends’ crap is bad for your health, is bad for your sanity, and above all it is an abomination on the face of mankind.
If they had played it to Saddam Hussein for a couple of weeks or so he’d have lost the will to live and we needn’t have invaded Iraq.
1 December, 2006 at 6:01 pm #251947F00k me so this was about friends the telly show not the screaming f00king tarts down the pub
Opss sorry PB  got me wires crossed but hey i have to agree iv never liked friends
Infact thats a fake as the screaming you look beutyfull b0ll0cs you hear most fridays and sats at the pub
1 December, 2006 at 7:15 pm #251948I love Friends, it makes me feel warm inside when feeling sh.itty and low after a bad day at work. I love nothing more than to slam a vid on and watch em for 2 hours solid.
You must be getting on a bit Mr PB.
However, saying that i do have a fondness for other comedies such as Open all Hours, Porridge, Monty Python and Fawlty Towers, nothing beats a good ol thrashing of ones automobile. The Life of Brian and a Fish called Wanda are my favourite film comedies.
And now for something completely different.
Poo bum = PB.
