What I dont understand about this is why if its known that FB accounts have been hacked and people here are concerned that someone from JC is using the site as a vehicle to access accounts why cant JC give a warning to that user?
Surely now they know the user name they can identify the person and possibly other names they use here. They dont have to name and shame they could just message them and tell them they are aware of whats happening. it would stop if they did that.
Surely JC have a responsibility to protect users where they can, just a thought.

On an adult only site I think the ultimate responsibility lies with ourselves don’t you think?
We all know the risks of adding strangers to facebook and what the consequences could be.
I for one don’t expect to be babysat at my age, Thats only my opinion though :D14 January, 2011 at 9:13 am #456244Yes I agree A.groanup, however maybe JC should intervene on their own behalf? Its not good publicity for them if they have predators just waiting for a less streetwise user to drop their guard.
Maybe just a message to inform these predators that their actions are being monitored?

14 January, 2011 at 9:15 am #456245I, very niaivly added some peeps from JC onto my fb when I first started it, not knowing what on earth I was doing. It isn’t their fault who they know who know who! Subsequently all my details have been plastered into the lobby, and I ain’t the only one, and, also, thank god I don’t bank on line, say no more! I now have a new fb with no-one from jc on it. JC says it is not their problem, but I DO think it is their duty to block the person (and, oh yes, I do know who you are!) from JC!
Sorry, Martin, but I do think it is JC’s responsibility to stop this person from doing so, wherever he got his information from is irrelevant, it is JC’s duty to block him!
14 January, 2011 at 9:39 am #456246Hardly anything gets done when intervention should be taken on the boards. When it is pretty straight forward. What are the chances of it happening when another site is involved? Zilch.
Groanup is right, common sense…….and I think that lots of us have been using the internet for a while now and should know about privacy settings etc. Especially if our better halves are experts. Also Mrs T….if there was evidence it is a certain person hacking etc that is against the law….the police would probably deal with it. Accusing someone of somthing does not mean it happened.14 January, 2011 at 9:42 am #456247@kent f OBE wrote:

14 January, 2011 at 9:43 am #456248I can understand your points, but do you really think that the management of JustChat should be held responsible for what happened to someone on an entirely different site?
Where would their responsibilities start and end?
I still uphold my belief that we as adults should be wary of anything we do or say either in a chatroom, message board or facebook etc.
Yes Mrs teapot I agree they could be given a warning without naming and shaming.
Who’s to say that they haven’t already done so?
JustChat also has a page on online safety has anyone ever read it?
The moral of the story is “Never give out information to anyone” Facebook has very good privacy facilities surely it is up to us as the users to make good use of them.14 January, 2011 at 9:50 am #456249@mrs_teapot wrote:

Actually Mrs T….I don’t use FB either, but I have family who do. Most of us wouldn’t use banking sites of shopping sites if they didn’t have secure settings because we give personal information to them. FB is the same. Infact lots of people put their every move and thought on them!

14 January, 2011 at 12:32 pm #456252All I was saying was that I didn’t know, initially, that peeps could be so horrid from JC (goodness knows why they would want to?!) , on facebook – give me some slack! I re-iterate I ain’t the only one it has happened to, and a lot worse has been done to others, than me!
No-one can get to me from there, now – fact!
