6 June, 2017 at 1:52 pm #1050034I suppose it would depend upon the individual cosy, some people take great umbrage when you say you do not like their Hat. once, a few years ago now I was discussing Pm,s with someone, only for them to storm out in the huff with me as they thought I was openly discussing Pre Menstrual Syndrome !! How I laughed.

It’s actually an interesting question. Where I live, a downtrodden working class area, people don’t mince their words. They say it how they see it. But would that translate everywhere else in the UK, I suspect it wouldn’t, where there might be different social norms, culture, class etc. I would happily say and do “oh don’t be a silly c you muppet” as “banter” in a normal conversation and not mean any offense by it and 99.9% of the time none would be taken.
Yet online where facial expression and body language can not be gauged sometimes the most innocuous or remarks is immediately blown out of proportion. Personally I also think JC is quite cliquey at times and what might be acceptable banter within a close nit group, would not be acceptable if it was an outsider using exactly the same banter. When it is genuinely banter that is, there is a thin line to be crossed I suppose, when others don’t interpret it as banter. It is also used to disguise bullying in the real world, workplace etc, sexism etc. “it was only banter”.

” I’m just expessing my opinion ”
where have we heard that before ?
the trouble is no ‘ inflection’ no tone. So, if you don’t ‘ know ‘ the person it can be taken the wrong way. However, even in txt, you can eventually know what the person is aiming at. I think we all know that !!!!
You can spot a wind up merchant and attention seeker at 10 paces after a while
we all know who they are lol
7 June, 2017 at 6:46 am #1050141I have to admit I am not very impressed with Cosy, he starts these threads and then abandons them quicker than he leaves his 1,000 online JC girlfriends.
CONCENTRATE Cosy, CONCENTRATE, you complain no one contributes to the boards and then neglect your own threads.
