    When I was a kid
I didn’t have an XBox or Wii. I had a pushbike and a curfew, a.k.a. the street lights.
    I played outside, not inside.
If I didn’t eat what my mum made then I didn’t eat.
I didn’t dare tell my parents “no,” nor talk back.
Hand sanitizer didn’t exist, but I COULD get my mouth washed out with soap!!!

Life wasn’t hard, it was Life. And I survived!

When I was a kid i heard my dad calling me in for my tea, from a few streets away. My kids can’t even hear me calling them when they are upstairs!

    When I was a kid…

You could take an empty bowl to the ice cream man and he would fill it for the price of a cornet.

You would be amused for hours with a huge string of elastic bands.. namely french skips and not need a state of the art scooter.

If your parents asked you to do something you didn’t dare question them why or say no.

The Barr pop man would come down the street and if you returned your empty pop bottles you got 10p deposit back… mmm dandelion and burdock and american cream soda were the best!

Along those lines too.. there was a mobile shop and a mobile fish van too!

You would wake up with ice on the inside of the window of your room and eithe get dressed under the covers or go down to the living room and get dressed in the warm infront of everyone!

You shared a bath with your siblings on a sunday night.

Before health and safety the electric milk float would come and the milkman would let you have a ride along the street in it.

You could sit on your parents lap and steer the car along the street over a short distance and no one cared!

You could go to the shop aged 6 and buy cigs for ya mum!

When I was a kid……..I had a bucket of marbles and when i got bored I’d throw handfuls in the air as high as possible and shout “scrambles” All the kids would grab as many as they could. I’d do this till the bucket was empty and at the end of the day I would go round myself trying to find a few marbles that had been missed to start all over again.

We’d play british bull dog in our street as there were hardly any cars that drove down it……and we’d all get our roller skates on and give eachother ‘tugs’ on our bikes and then let go so we freewheeled as fast as possible.

    I’ve got some great memories.
