I once found out the hard way why you don’t put a coffee thermos in a microwave. It happened in my college cafeteria of all places. I only put it in for a few seconds, but long enough for a little piece of the handle to melt. I reached in and SCREAMED IN PAIN. I dropped the mug, spilling coffee everywhere and immediately ran to the bathroom to cure the burn on my hands.
When I got to the washroom, all I could think about was how much pain I was in. I put the water on such high pressure that the second my fingers went underneath, water sprayed everywhere, including all over the front of my pants. So all morning, I was walking around campus, clutching my fingers in pain and looking like I peed my pants.
