In response to my original questions, there were some very definite…”I would delete anyone who did it” comments (which I too have done). And people have been equally outraged by people even reading msn conversations to others on the phone. So it is an emotive subject.

But maybe it isn’t the act of cut and pasting that is the problem. Perhaps it is the intent behind it. Also perhaps the main problem with cut and pasting is that comments can be taken out of context. We know how good the newspapers are at misrepresenting what somone has said to them in an interview.

Is it ever okay to cut and paste?

I did cut and paste a conversation just once and am sure the person concerned would have agreed wholeheartedly but also said a few ‘choice words’ as well :)

To pass on information meant to humiliate or hurt another human being is very wrong and cannot possbly be justified unless in kindergarten of course!!
