So yet another manager has departed from St.James’ Park. I’ve had a soft spot for the Magpies for about 11 years now, I wasn’t bothered about English football but my mate was a fan and always talking about them.
As with Big Sam, the timing just baffles me. Why not wait a couple of weeks? Especially for Newcastle who aren’t chasing anything. Man for man, Newcastle have a terrific pool of players but something isn’t making them tick. So who do you reckon? Sam, Shearer or Sven? And who would touch that job anyway? Their fans have been starved of success for years yet still have high expectations every year!

A team isnt built over night, not even with Russian millions
The team they have currently sint good enough for a top 6 spot so they’ll be a mid table giant until then.
6 May, 2007 at 10:30 pm #269287I don’t know if I’d go along with that Slayer. I agree that the team isn’t good enough, but they have some terrific players. Given is one of the best in the business, Owen is a terrific striker (granted, he’s had injury problems so he can escape lightly) Dyer, Parker – they’re not bad players.
They need motivation, not money. Walter Smith at Rangers is a perfect example of how vital that is. Rangers looked dead and buried under PLG, but look at the turn around with largely the same group of players.

7 May, 2007 at 10:20 am #269290newcastle are not a big team, therefore can not attract the big players as easily, it will take a man like sam with a good eye for spotting great players to work in his team, though i think the reason why he quit bolton has yet to come out and it could have a baring effect to why he left not just bolton but football managment.. we shall see
to be honest, they are not got a good track record of getting the right man for the job

simple nice swop :D/

7 May, 2007 at 2:37 pm #269294Breaking news on Sky Sports says that sources close to Allardyce claim he will be the next Newcastle manager. So what if he was criticized for making Bolton play ‘ugly’ football? It was effective and that’s what counts.
And if he can continue this trend he has of getting the best out of players, it would be a good appointment.
