Club Classics. Anybody remember them oldie dance classics like ‘Whigfield – Saturday Night’ and ‘Haddaway – What is love?’ Reminds me of being in junior school.
:D20 December, 2007 at 10:14 pm #42996Timbaland-shock value :D/
 Whigfield, junior school, eric ??? feck me how old do i feel.
I’m just going to sit in the corner, old, drinking soup through a straw and smelling of wee :?24 December, 2007 at 12:16 am #42997Jesus Of Suburbia – Green Day
Wouldn’t worry about feeling old, I’m only a few years older than MM and I barely remember Whigfield. But some of the music young folk listen to today makes me feel old. I get subjected to that clubland stuff at work and I’m one of the ‘That’s not music, that’s just noise’ brigade! :D

I vow NEVER to join that brigade and indulge in all music. There is not much I dont like (apart from Kylie of course  )
24 December, 2007 at 12:52 am #42999But it’s not music!! They’re not even proper songs!! It’s just a collection of the most god awful sounds known to humanity thrown together – I used to listen to it years ago until the first time I heard ‘It’s Been A While’ by Staind on Kerrang. A defining moment, certainly as far as my music tastes go cos most of my CD collection is made of up bands I’ve heard on there or on MTV2.
I don’t know what they listen to in nightclubs and I don’t have a clue what’s in the charts.

24 December, 2007 at 1:00 am #43001Afraid just about everywhere here is a haven for the young at nights so there’s not much give and take when it comes to what gets played. The only ones that aren’t are a haven for the ‘quiet pint’ minority who probably wouldn’t take kindly to any sort of music.
24 December, 2007 at 1:00 am #43002Just because they are listening to one genre, they will go through the same phases we all go through. I can remember watching a program a while back about the Beatles and they were interviewing people back then (who I can safely say are well dead now) what they thought of them… most of the replies were:
“This is not music!”.
24 December, 2007 at 1:02 am #43003I meant to add that we all think our own era’s of music and those of past are much better than new music. Its a natural thing, as we attach big memories of our teens and younger years to certain songs and bands. The ability to make them same attachments as we get older diminishes to some extent.
Let the kids play rock and roll, or whatever they want. They are designing their lives just the same as we did.
24 December, 2007 at 1:05 am #43004But did they ever like the Beatles? If not then the point about going through phases doesn’t really hold up with that as an example cos they clearly didn’t. If, in time, they grew to accept the Beatles then fair enough.
