it’s nothing to do wit intellectual skills, and I actually, really don’t believe you (or Ms M etc) are less clever than I am,
but I kept away from that one. I would have walked out of the cinema, as I have done with other arty films.
It did receive brilliant reviews, but the reason is to do with the beauty of the photography. The story is true, and very meaningful for the woman involved, but the only reason it interested anyone else was the beautiful photography of a National Geographic guy.
I was very interested in National Geographic in my early adolescence, like millions of other early adolescent boys, for one reason and one reason only *ahem
Once, when asked about my opinion of Antonio das Mortes, a Brazilian film of the late 60s, I said I preferred Oklahoma, and this caused me to be ostracised
ha ha. Do I give a damn? It’s like being ostracised or trolled here. I really don’t give a damn.
Watch what you like, but people have different taste, and it’s a shame if some very good films which you would like are missed because they appear to be ‘intellectual’.
One that springs to mind is Les Parapluies de Cherbourg, but I don’t know you. You may be really put off by subtitles. So…that’s fine.
It’s taste, and the different tastes of people in movies (like in books) interests me.
a movie which makes me think, or which moves me.
NOT a movie which makes me blub, like It’s a Wonderful Life.
Movies which make you blub are bad movies.
Movies that ‘move’ you can often make you blub…..

ha wtf camels it sounds like a holiday I went on where I did not want to get on the spitting camel, but my bro and mum did, and so me and my dad stood there waiting a long time for them to return, also them camels spitting seems like a lot of people who walk down the street ffs, spitting everywhere filthy basts
