dawny have you been prescribed amitriptlyne at any point?
Couple of years ago i suffered with headaches every day (turned out to be medication over use from taking too many painkillers for headaches) i also used to get migraines every week that would last 2-3 days, specialist told me to stop painkillers altogether – after a few months my daily headaches started to go away, i took amitriptlyne every day for a year to keep migraines away and although i still got the odd one, on the whole it worked for me. After a year they wouldnt let me have any more as its probably addictive, but touch wood, i only get migraines occassionally now. Tried everything else, the melts that are supposed to be one of the best new drugs invented for migraines that work really fast – they did nothing for me, but this did. Give it a shot.

Yea I did Pebs. Doc took me of it after 9 months as it wasnt working. This has been going on for nearly a year now.
I was prescribed every blooody painkiller going, developed rebound headaches cos of medicine over use, just like you.
I spend so much time in hospital this year that it aint funny, after a week last time, I was discharged with Morphine to use at home.
I was taken in for a lumber puncture, it was then that they took me off all my meds. Had to have some Valium for a wee while to help with the pain.
I now take Epilim (anticonvulsant) Imigran, anti sickness tablets, anti depressants (cos after a year of this im depressed! go figure)The underlying headache is still there, Docs say that I come under the “chronic daily headache” label now  I been told I suffer with Cluster, tension and Migraine headaches
Mind I dont know which headache is worse, as when they are going on, they are all bad.Thanx though Pebs xxx
13 April, 2008 at 7:06 pm #298122i know exactly how you feel, i used to wake up with a headache every day and after a while it really gets to you. Think mine started with stress from work and built up from there. After trying a few things they gave me the amitriptlyne it didnt work as good as they said but it offered some relief. I got fed up with seeing doctors as nothing seemed to work so i just stuck with it. I was terrified when she told me they wouldnt be giving me anymore after a year as i thought it would go back to how it was before, but luckily it didnt. I do still get occasional headaches and migraine but nothing as bad as before. Hope you get it sorted x

Funny enough mine started after stress at work.
Had to hold onto my temper too much when all I wanted to smack the face of my supervisor, bullying b1tch :evil:Stress does make it worse for me. Ive not even been able to get to college this year because of it  so will have to do it next year, with people I dont know as my class will have graduated :(
It is hard living with constant pain, but some days are a wee bit better than others
Thanx Pebs xxxx Hope your dont get any worse
13 April, 2008 at 7:23 pm #298124I used to get cluster headaches mainly from stress at work
i gave the effing job up in the end after 18 years lol
but seriously i wondered if you had perhaps tried alternative medicine or therapy rather than tablets dawny as it seems that is just making it worse may be worth looking into it.13 April, 2008 at 7:27 pm #298125Yea I have Poli, spent a fortune on acupuncture, then another lot on craniosacral therapy.
Though they did relax me, they didnt help on the headache front.I go to see a pain clinic, well ive had 1 appointment  she wants to try acupuncture again, but there is a 2 month waiting list, that was 3 months ago  she also wants me to go to her relaxation classes, still waiting
13 April, 2008 at 7:40 pm #298126maybe add some complimentary therapy to it too dawny
see Link
i know they can be a nightmare so anythings worth trying and get someone to give u a good massage every night too ;) concentrating on neck and shoulders as well as back.
Its catch 22 tho cos they can get u down and anxiety and depression can cause them too, another thing u cud try is st johns wort good for all sorts of things from depression to hangover cure lol and again natural.
Oh and alcohol dehydrates and makes them worse so no boozing either lol
on that happy note good luck :)13 April, 2008 at 7:58 pm #298127@(f)politics? wrote:
