12 June, 2008 at 5:31 pm #326823Kwikfit   I took my car in this morning for a full service and MOT and prayed that it would pass (as I’ve already had to have a new exhaust and a new console due to an airbag fault total £500). I gets a phone call at 3ish to say “oh dear it failed” but good news it’s only the wiper blades so it won’t cost much and will be ready at 5.30 :D . .. so I leave work early catch the two buses from the other end of town to the garage and “oh dear we have been trying to ring you”….. they only went and smashed my windscreen changing the sodding wiper blades   I know it was an accident and they were very apologetic but I now have to sort out a new windscreen tomorrow (whilst at work) and claim back on my insurance policy.
BUT then… my insurers say it will cost £65 for a new windscreen and I can’t have a years no claims bonus, ie it is frozen for a year so I miss out on a discount next year….. Kwikfit will knock the £65 of my bill (how nice of them but won’t compensate for the discount I loss next year as they dont know how much it will be). I need the car ready for tomorrow night as I’m taking t’other half and my two nephews to the coast so I either loss my no claims bonus for a year or rely on Kwikfit  to sort it out, never mind the bus ride again in the morning
12 June, 2008 at 5:37 pm #326824why dont you refuse to claim it off your insurance? i mean why should you? they broke it, they should fix it free of charge AND provide you with compensation for keeping you without a car. Just tell them that youre not prepared to do it.
12 June, 2008 at 5:42 pm #326825Yep try that Cat. good luck!
For my part….. i had to get something to London by 9.00 this morning. So after great deliberation and having phoned the Royal Mail about next day delivery etc etc I decided to get our courier firm to take it. They picked it up yesterday afternoon and promised to deliver it before 9.00 this morning.
They didn’t get it there until 10.30!
Apparently a tunnel was closed and the traffic yadayadayada blah blah!!!
I was fuming, cos it was very very important. I won’t be using them again!

Think thats the route Im going to take in the morning, Im going to give them the chance to sort it out themselve, if not I will get it sorted and claim back from them without going through my insurance.. don’t see how they can argue with that
