    Jessica – age 8

And the final one — Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge.

The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.
The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.
Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman’s yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.
When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,
‘Nothing, I just helped him cry’
When there is nothing left, that is when you find out that love is all you need.

so come on share with us what does it mean to you???

Wow, I have to say… I was blown away reading all that. Fantastic answers, one and all. It is true.. often the very young can be a lot more wise and philosophical than we realise, and than us ourslelves can muster.
As for the question itself, it’s a tough one.. on the account that love can be so many things. Love can’t always be described really. The way, the reasons, and the extent you love someone can vary from person to person. It goes without saying that being kind, senstive, thoughtful, selfless etc goes some way to showing you love someone, but of course it goes deeper than that. Family is a good example. A lot of people don’t see eye to eye with their family, or a certain family member.. fight all the time, and don’t see each other often. However, if they came to harm you would do what you could to protect them, console them and so on. So in a strange way, you don’t even have to like someone to love them. But obviously more often than not you do. I agree with the one saying that to tell someone you love them you have to mean it, but if you do, then say it often as they forget. This is very true..
    Anyway, fantastic read!

To me thery’re two types of love………the love you feel for your child and the love you feel for a partner

Nothing comapres to the love I feel for my Daughter, its unconditional, when shes sad im sad, I hate her being upset, I want to be able to fix everything and give her a perfect world to live in, I have gone without to give her what she needs and I would do it again, When times have been hard I have been at rock bottom looking at her has made me carry on, She is my life, my everything, she is my best achievement in life, I admire the young person she has turned out to be, she is beautiful, caring, funny, hyper, gobby and bad tempered all these things make her the person she is and I wouldnt change her for the world…… a few weeks ago she posted a status on facebook sayin “I love my mum so much, I don’t know what I would do without her” when I read this I thought “I feel exactly the same princess” even when shes left home and married with children of her own……..she will ALWAYS be my baby <3 xxx

For me love was walking away when I knew our circumstance’s at the time was too hard to deal with, we both had young children and lived a long distance from each other,it wasn’t fair to disrupt their life for our happiness (A mothers love)………..If you love someone set them free, if they come back its meant to be……..and 8 years on she’s STILL the one <3 xxx

aww i agree with master plan that really is beautiful, out of the mouths of babes s the most honest answer yll get. xxx

I dont pretend to know what love is for everyone, but i know what it is for me, love is knowing all about someone and still wanting to be with them, love is trusting them enough to tell them everything about yourself including the things you are ashamed of, feeling comfy and safe with someone but still getting weak knees when they walk into a room and smile at you.

Love is…..A chemical imbalance in the brain

And its also everything you guys have said. I think also, its seeing a person, flaws and all and not caring that they aren’t perfect, you wouldn’t change them for the world. If someone feels the need to try to change the person you are, then they don’t really love you

He walked her down the alley
The sky was filled with stars
He walked her to the old wooden gate
And lifted for her the bars

She raised her brown eyes to him
There was nothing between them now
He that was the farmer’s handy man
And she was his jersey cow
    .

    That does it for me.

Understanding that someone is imperfect (as we all are) and wanting and doing the best for them nevertheless.

Putting yourself second. So few people really do.
