Well, you did ask…. “So, on a personal level, what does freedom mean to you?”…Because my interpretation does not match what you believe it should, you cop out….but hey ho, to coin a phrase of your`s.

“Freedom is just another word for Nothing left to lose”… oops sorry went off on a tangent of song there :)

freedom can mean many things to different people. fromThe battered wife, finally having the courage to get away to the fat cat getting off a court charge due to some “clerical” error.

Personal freedom.. ah thats a good one Jen.When you get over lifes hurdles, as you have, it must be nice and allowable to feel quite good about oneself…I too have personal freedom, and I agree life can be great. I just wish i could erase the conscience and memory parts at times :)

I wont go into politics, as you asked a personal question.

to me freedom is hogging the remote control, and never having to say im sorry, being me, warts and all. To look around at this Great big world of ours and marvel at its beauty in nature, and weep for its not so beautiful bits.Personal freedom can be a long apprentiship.and it helps if one is a graduate from the university of Life.

Lovely thread Jen… sadly overtaken by bold text which I can’t be bothered to read…… I hope one day to achieve the personal freedom and inner peace that you have…. until that day I willl count my blessings for what i do have and work on the things I don’t :)

    Thank you Velvet. :D

As an aside, do you think bold text is a slightly quieter version of the shouting of capital letters? :?

I think it’s a “look at me” attention seeking characteristic but hey what do i know… I tend to ignore people that shout and listen to the ones that whisper quitely

Of course, using BOLD type, is a Freedom i gladly participate in…I could of course use..One of the many colours available to users…hmmm…. Let me think…..who will become adversly affected in my use of these facilities ?

I have no problem with your interpretation of your personal freedom, I simply ask that if you wish to go into the woes of the world and the way it functions that it should be the subject of a different thread. That is not a cop-out, but if you don’t wish to start that thread in the same way that you didn’t wish to start this thread, that is your choice.

As for your interpretation not matching what I believe it should, I don’t have any preconceptions of what your personal freedom should be, hence asking the question.

You were the one that dismissed my interpretation of personal freedom because it didn’t match what you believe it should with this response

This is what one person says about freedom:

I personally don’t think there is ‘freedom’……….everything we do has rules and/or sanctions whether they be in the written word or the unspoken.

If only it were that easy Ruby but then having the conscience and memory helps us to appreciate the freedom that we have now so much more.

I don’t disagree with it, I just think it is a topic in its own right.
