Just googled it.
Devoke Water is actually a hop, skip and jump from where I grew up *blushes
*makes a note of a new place to visit next time I go to see my family.
West Cumbria is a strange area.

We used to stay in this place for a getaway weekend over the winter months which was ideal for us because dogs are welcome, although I haven’t been for a longtime. I think the Lakes are magical in the winter months, but as I said off the beaten track. Devoke was literally a few minutes away if you took a short cut at a farm just behind the bothy. A treck over to Devoke and back to enjoy the log fire, nice food and a nice bottle of wine is my idea of heaven.

17 September, 2018 at 11:07 am #1103840Bits of Scotland, stayed in part of a Lairds place in Kinlochmoidart and some of the secenry around there was breathtaking.
But my heart is in Cornwall, love the difference in the two coasts and actually prefer the beaches in the Winter than the Summer. Spent a few years growing up there and hope to retire somewhere down there.
17 September, 2018 at 11:07 am #1103841Best chippy I ever went to was on the weymouth to chessil beach road.
Chessil beach is the so called 9th wonder of the world locals say as it happened over night.
17 September, 2018 at 11:14 am #1103847I have to really say what i think,i cant help it.I did go to waymouth and it was very beautiful. The people were queer tho.The onley people of colour were the people in an indian resterount.Seemingley i was told that they did evrything they could to keep black people out. They were allowed to go there for day trips but not holidays or to stay there.I myself because i do look like a travler went in to a pub and was nastely abused. As much as i did try and say na that cant be right of a whole town of people,it looked very like it was.I dont know if the place has changed at all because its at least 20 years since iv been there, but at the time unfortunatley thats what it was like for me.
