http://uk.news.yahoo.com/01012007/344/girl-5-mauled-death-dog.html
When will people learn not to have such dangerous dogs, especially with young children. Her poor parents must be devastated.
1 January, 2007 at 6:24 pm #254768It’s awful Bat, I read about it earlier and it made me feel physically sick.
More and more you see people with these kind of dogs, they seem to have become some kind of status symbol,,,,,,,,,,a lot of them fed on steroids to pump them up etc etc.,
It’s high time something was done about it. Too many children have been injured and worse by these animals now.
2 January, 2007 at 5:41 pm #254769I thought pit bull terriers where illegal in this country , are they not .
People who break the law & keep these kinds of pets can only blame them selves , you would think they would have the common sense to keep them locked up & children / Adults alike at a safe distance .
I do think this is a shame but if you cant do the time then don`t do the crime :!:
2 January, 2007 at 11:19 pm #254770Put the owner down. There is no excuse having these dogs in this country 15 years since they were banned (if it is proved to be an illegal breed that is). And the breeder should also be arrested.
I would still argue that the breed in the right hands could possibly be a good working dog, but only for the Army or appropriate dog handling associations NOT A PET. They are bred as working dogs and need stimulation. In saying that though, not in this country, they are not required. Dont ask me which country I do not know! I just hate the thought of another species of the animal kingdom becoming extinct because of humans.
Poor girl.
2 January, 2007 at 11:26 pm #254771Well apparently this doggy WAS a pit bull type (as has been confirmed by DNA) so I guess it was illegal to possess it – but it was just a lovable cuddly family woofer.
Its owners have said that it didn’t have an aggressive bone in its body – end of !!
As it was such a nice family pet, and everybody loved it, it must have been provoked in some way. Can’t have been fireworks at 4.00 in the morning. Could it have been burgulars?? Could it have been the little girl’s parents coming home pissed after New Year’s eve parties?? Could the owners have been doing drugs??
These questions need answers.

On form as ever  you been at the left over xmas whiskey by any chance?
Back on course, that family no matter what is thrown at them will suffer a life time of grief, whether any are prosecuted or not. The breeder needs finding and all his stock taken away, there is no way after 15 years since the ban they should be bred.
I bet you any money the Uncle (owner) was just another status symbol hunter, nice dog to make him look bigger/harder round the estate.

3 January, 2007 at 4:36 pm #254774I saw the owner’s piccy in today’s papers. Yes UGO, I think on this occasion you are dead right.
Mind you he won’t be so hard now that the Police have shot his ‘family pet’ that didn’t have an aggressive bone in its body.
3 January, 2007 at 7:06 pm #254775This type of incident drives me Fuc*ing mad, why does the world need this type of animal?
All breeds, cross breeds and any type of mix of these dogs should be destroyed, they serve no purpose and are useless for anything apart from fighting.
They are a status symbol for chavvy drug dealers on sink estates to look hard, when in fact they look stupid cheap and dangerous. The parents are just as much to blame for this, why would any sane person leave their child in the same building as one of these animals.
My jaw nearly hit the floor when I saw a picture of the owner with his arm around the mother as she was laying flowers.
The fuc*ing nerve of him, how fuc*ing arrogant, he’s just caused (by proxy) the death of his niece and then he has the brass neck to be near the mother!!!
What does that say about her? If it was my brother in law, you’d have to pull me off the fuc*er.
I’m sorry the child was killed and that the nan got injured, but these type of people who put their kids lives in danger needlessly don’t deserve them.
I mean would you let your kids go swimming if a shark was seen off the beach, I think not, but it seems o.k. to put them in the same room a one of natures most efficent killing machines.3 January, 2007 at 7:13 pm #254776Very well said Jelly. Couldnt have put it better myself.
