God..yes I remember those bliddy liberty-bodices..and the pink net party frock that scrathched the skin off till you bled. Turning a frozen stretch of pavement into a slide and going on it in my plastic [red]sandals coz it made me slide faster and ‘Rag tag and Bobtail’ on Watch With Mother and the spazzy kid in the class with round, pink National Health glasses with one eye patched over. Lyon’s individual fruit pies and Lost In Space on a Saturday night. Following me big sister everywhere and annoying her mates…thumpin’ all me li’l bruvver’s mates as well. Getting skelped for trying to buy a Mr. Whippy with plastic buttons. Tudor crisps and sarsparilla..frozen jubilees..black jacks. Being made to stay at the table for three hours until I ate my tripe and onions School dinners and the fight over the custard skin..kiss-me chases and skipping ropes in the playground. “Tales Of The Riverbank”..Sindy Dolls without bosoms..Clarke’s patent shiny shoes. Feck we were miserable

LOL essy at the frozen jubilees…….. my mum and dad dont remember them!!! Had a big debate with them a while back on that one. Do you remember the ice cream drinks…….. when you went to a cafe (mine was on the Paisley Road) and you could get Ginger Beer and Ice cream, but it werent just that…….. they actually had a name for them, was it a fizzy ice or something like that?…….. would be good to solve this one as mum and dad say they were just called ices and I was only 6 so how could I possibly be right but I swear they had a name….

Oh nooo..the poached haddock in milk..one of my mum’s culinary delights..it always gave me the boak. Potted meat..mince n tatties..yugh! I loved going to my grannies for a stick of rhubarb to dip in a poke of sugar Getting my new roller skates and going straight out to the nearest steep hill and flying into the back of a car. Old school desks with ‘the mods and the rockers’ carved into the top..inkwells and fountain pens..when 70% was a lousy mark for maths. Sneaking off to school in my big sister’s new dress and trying to pass it off as a maxi,,but the arm-holes at my waist giving it away..getting it ripped and getting walloped when I got home. Listening to music on a radiogram..very swish. My best mate getting a tiny-tears doll and a new record-player and a monkees album..I got a Tressy doll and an etch-a-sketch and my dad stood on it on New Year’s Eve. Me and me little brother pelting each other with our Christmas stockings till they turned into mashed tangerines at the toes..chicken for Christmas dinner before turkey became fashionable. Eee it were grim

Shazza..the ginger beer and icecream..I just knew these as ice-cream lemonades..or limeade which was my favourite..
