HI people,
Well i got to say im f`”’ angry that for the sake of 3 pence a channel all cable customers woke up this mornin to find they had lost a few channels. Not just a few 1 of the most popular channels sky one, plus sky sport .as the executive off both companies refuse to budge, what i want to say is why did`nt they ask the customers what they felt.As i for one if they asked me to pay a wee bit extra to access these programmes.Surly if virgin dont loose customers then they be ok,as sky will come back with another bid.then again if virgin find that they loose to many customers they are going to have to go back with there tales between there legs and try and get a bid.I gotta ask myself they should have taken the customers thought into the aquasion………………………………..1 March, 2007 at 8:33 pm #262766Personally I think its sky taking the piss, they are strong arming for money on the assumption that the new telewest, NTL, Virgin triad will be cash rich and would bow to leverage and cough up more dosh
For sky its a win win scenario, either they get more money for doing nothing extra or they get more customers directly rather than via cable, at the moment there doesnt seem to be a downside for them
As much as it might eventually bother me not having sky channels on my cable box most of them I can download off the net anyway before they are aired in the UK and I do partially admire virgin media for having the balls to tell sky where to get off
Personlly tho, I think its the governments responsibility to avoid monopolies and to promote competition in controlled areas such as utilities and broadcasting. So safeguards should have been put in place with the broadcasting licenses when they were issued to make this sort of thing impossible in my opinion
But as with every other government attempt at market balance they screwed this one up too it seems

There are other channels. Programmes will get moved around. Get over it.
Buy a radio.
1 March, 2007 at 9:07 pm #262768There are some good programmes on Sky One. I agree with Tam, it’s outrageous.
1 March, 2007 at 9:08 pm #262769They’ll get moved onto other channels…
1 March, 2007 at 9:15 pm #262770Well, I cant see em just now.
2 March, 2007 at 8:06 am #262771funny how spin can be made to say what it wants
3p per day per customer is actually really Sky charging Virgin double for the channels, in the knowlegde that Virgin would not pay and in the knowledge that this would cause disattisfcation amongst Virgin customers and whhere will these people go? Some undoubtedly to Sky…very clever indeed
2 March, 2007 at 6:46 pm #262772sky have blagged a more expensive deal to the customer, giving you something for nothing or few, letting you realise its a good product, and then charge you heaps.
I think it costs pubs £300 a month to have sky sports now? Few pubs have it, but you see, their former customers have it at home now…
I think all tv is a great rip off. You can use your £20? a month internet connection and have ten times more entertainment. Of course, you still need a fascist tv licence…
2 March, 2007 at 7:04 pm #262773It’s only a box with moving pictures at the end of the day. It isn’t the end of the world, sheesh.
You’re all talking like it’s a sign of armageddon.
There are pubs, books, the radio, stereos, and many other forms of entertainment!
Stop throwing a paddy.
2 March, 2007 at 10:58 pm #262774Actually Smiley, I even agree with you on this one
On hols in Derbyshire last week in a cottage n TV broke so me n missus Slayer (n lil baby Slayer) had to amuse our selves, read a book, talk to each other- it was probably the most we’d spoken in months (very busy lives n a baby!!)- I’d recommend it to anyone n we have 2 nights a week now TV free (unless footie’s on)
TV is a great leveller n a great subduer of the masses
