You could easily lose a week on GTA, best one so far!! San Andreas was going to take some beating but it seems poor in comparison. This is going to be a good year for the PS3.

All my mates at school were into Tomb Raider but I could never really get the hang of it so I never got into it.

Each time they bring out a new tomb raider I go through evenings of getting used to new moves and changes in the controls etc.

    Still love it though.

Btw, GTA IV is feckin fantastic!! :D

where do ya think sgt peppers been for the last week!

Huge Huge HUGE fan of the GTA series and this one is UBER!!

The best prior to IV was the super sleazy VICE CITY methinks. SAN ANDREAS was brill, but I feel that what it gained in size it lacked in quality  .. it was just too goddam expansive! Way too big – leading to some very flat periods of gameplay I thought. Still streets ahead of most though.

But GTA IV is a work of sublime genius =P~ .. I’ve hardly slept a wink since I pushed and beat teenagers outta the way to grab my copy early last week!
It has put a serious dent in my tarting exploits on here too let me tell ya :P .

The whole eastern immigrant influence, the expected improved graphic fluidity, the much better radius restricted police chases, the sat nav, the (thank feck) totally rehauled hand to hand / shootout modes.. and the coup de grace that is the omnipotent mobile phone with all it’s perks and wonders.

I think that ^^^^ is a thumbs up for GTA4 dontya think?

Id love to see sgt in the game shop shoving all the kids outta the way lol!!

I pre ordered mine back in January, got the special edition on PS3 for £58 and it was delivered on release day. F***IN LOVE IT!! Agree about San Andreas to an extent, thought it was far too big with actually not enough to do outwith missions. If it had that then it would have been even better. Vice City was great, loved the soundtrack :D

Don’t like the locals in GTA IV though, I get the impression Niko isn’t welcome. Best thing so far for me – going drinking with Roman. That is funny as hell if you’ve never done it

Not seen the new GTA yet but im quite sure that will be the next one on my sons list when he saves enough pocket money, yes he is too young for them if u go with the age guidelines but i will say this… even though you do see some kids in the playground acting out scenes from thsi violent video games but is it any different to the cowboys and indians we used to play as kids, except then we had proper weapons with bows and arrows made from branches and string lol
i think we underestimate childrens ability to see what is play/ games and what is real life, most kids bought up in a manner that violence in the real world isnt acceptable can cope with the difference from fact to fiction.

Why? This is a thread about violent video games (I know that for a fact cos I started it) GTA is considered a violent video game so by talking about the GTA games, I’m keeping this on topic which doesn’t happen very often (as you’ve so kindly proved) I don’t see what the problem is.

Poli, I think the older GTA games which carried an 18 certificate were actually quite undeserving of the rating. For me, they weren’t much more adult themed than most other games on the market at that time. The PS3 ones do deserve it as the content/language is a lot more graphic than previous but if someone is, as you said, sensible enough then there shouldn’t be a problem.

I loved The Getaway. Still not finished it cos my son nicked it off me.

Love the lines “shut it you muppet” and “Stop! I need your details!”

Getaway is due out on PS3 later this year so I’m looking forward to that :D Never really got into it much on PS2, it was a bit too samey, but from what I’ve heard this one’s going to be something else entirely.

Godfather II is also set for this year as well. Godfather was fantastic on PS2 and even better on PS3 so that’s another I’m keeping an eye out for.
