30 July, 2008 at 1:50 pm #357947Thanks for all the encouraging words! It honestly helps to hear from people who’ve been through it before. I’m counting the days before he leaves me  . We’re at 23  .
I’m sure he’s going to have a good time. I think he’s most excited about getting to use a glue stick and safety scissors. I don’t keep them in the house because he does like to torment his little brother and has stuck stickers and peanut butter in his hair  . And of course dumped slimy mud on him yesterday  .
My big concern is a somebody being mean to him. I admit, my son is sheltered. He’s a good boy with a lot of compassion and just the thought of some little brat picking on him breaks my heart. The thought of that first day make me want to vomit. :-… . I do like the idea of getting him a book about starting school – Thanks Rainy! Pat – Your stories were cracking me up  Thanks again for everyone’s responses. Do they have support groups for this sort of thing?? :roll:30 July, 2008 at 1:56 pm #357948yeah fathers usually

You’re welcome! I would reccomend some books but i wouldn’t know if they get printed in America.
Support group = meeting other parents who of course will be feeling just like you! Ok so some won’t but they’ve probably been through it all before or their children are just so “active” they can’t wait to see him/her go through the door!
It will get easier – promise!
30 July, 2008 at 6:23 pm #357950pre-school as in nursery..?? my oldest now 10 was in from 16mths old as i worked, was in full-time until school age, then started school and finished 12.. to break them in..!! she loved nursery… my funny was when us parents had to go to school, the headteacher asked if there were any q’s we wanted answered. i stuck my hand up and said ‘ when they in til 3pm’ to a gash of sighs fae others mothers, i was like… well i work full-time..!! lol
now Alfie he’s been in nursery since he was 18mths, now 3 and loves it, he’s goin in full-time soon, as his nursery teachers say by the way he is going he could possible get into school early as he can count up to 100, add up, write his name and address, his sisters name, knows all his clours , shades and shapes… certainly got his brains fae my bro..!! mind u my lass is a wee brainy lass also… and ere’s me dislexic as lol i get red faced when my daughter corrects me lol…AW, maybe u’ve sheltered him but he’ll love it, and as said the people whom do this job ( SAINTS I SAY lol ) know how to distract and settle them, u’ll be the 1 in tears lol.. mind u I had the flags oot lol…
