Thanks kylee, that sounds like very sound advice.
I have 256MB of RAM with very little running on my pc.
The more security I get for my pc the slower it runs.7 May, 2005 at 6:25 pm #30872I myself have used partition manager which has split my HD into three seperate compartments, my C drive now has my windows folders within it, and is hidden from all users that access my comp. My D and E drives now have certain folders that i have renamed like, downloads, and sys utils that are kept ON the system even if i lose windows, I tend to use the sys util folder on the D drive for programs like mozilla, Msn messenger and any antivirus or spyware program to reintergrate if the inevitable happens and the system crashes, my download file I use for music and any photos or videos that have been downloaded from different scouces to transfer into different subfolders within the D or E domain of my main drive, which is the C: drive. there are two ways you can partition the hard drive.
NO 1 Format the hard drive and partition from the windows disk itself which is self explanatory, ( Only from the XP setup disk).
NO 2 you can find partition manager on a trial basis from download.com, but it is an only 30 day trial, this months computer active magazine explains it fully with a step by step advice column,.
Good advice is hard to find, use it when you can.

Make your Computer run more efficently and instal your paging file on any of the partitions you created on your HDD that dont contain your systems program files. This will boost the data exchange on your virtual memory file which in turn will optimize your systems speed.

a-squared (a²) is a complementary product to antivirus software and desktop firewalls on MS Windows computers. Antivirus software specializes in detecting classic viruses. Many available products have weaknesses in detecting other malicious software (Malware) like Trojans, Dialers, Worms and Spyware (Adware). a² fills the gap that malware writers exploit.
a-squared Free is the free alternative to a-squared Personal. As with the personal version it cleans your computer from existing Malware but a-squared Free does not contain the background guard with the IDS which prevents any further infection of your computer.

of the most important parts of an antivirus program today. avast!

before it has any chance to infect your computer.avast! Home Edition contains resident protection of the computer file
system and resident module for e-mails.17 June, 2005 at 9:02 pm #30876I trust `Microsoft automatic update` for all of my security downloads.
