I want to like Obama, as my predilection is for more liberal government, but there is something teflon about him. Everything seems to slide off him, including a genuine personality. However, the Presidency of the US is not what it once was, and as Bush proved, the real power is in the Plutocrats. The big money this time around seems to be backing Obama, and they are surely expecting their piece of the pie.

And, as lil fek said, the whole process is unbearably long. No wonder nobody bothers to vote, as they are lulled into a stupor by the vacuous rhetoric: to which there seems no end.

I’ll agree, the election process in America is ridiculously protracted and unnecessarily long. I think they should put a 6 month limit on campaigning; in this day and age with the media technology we have, if someone can’t make their case in 6 months they don’t deserve to be running the country.

I’m an Obama supporter, but mainly because I don’t think America can afford another 4-8 years of Right-wing domestic and foreign policy. I do like Obama as a person and as a candidate, and there’s a certain gravity to him; but I wish he had a bit more experience as a legislator at the national level.

As far as Republicans go, if they simply MUST win again, I’d much rather have McCain over any other of the nut-jobs who sought the nomination this time around. I disagree with all his policies, but I respect the man and I at least think he would TRY to do the job well.

Most of my family, friends, and colleagues are voting for Obama. I’m from Boston Massachusetts which is generally one of the most liberal places in America. Everyone I know is VERY anxious about this election; and I share in that sentiment to a degree. But for the most part, regardless of the outcome I’ll breathe a sigh of relief because no matter who wins BUSH IS OUT!!!
