another blonde moment… been having a few this weekend.
Two computers newly formatted with Genuine windows as my dodgy ones ran out and shut down both pc’s.
Im still carrying out little tweaks to bits and pieces, but my internet explorer is currently “running without add-on’s” and I cant remember where to go/what to press to get them running again.
Also… how important is XP SP3, can I live without it?
15 September, 2008 at 9:39 pm #371785oh come on where are all the clever people tonight?
15 September, 2008 at 9:48 pm #371786Tools manage add ons from internet explorer…. and you dont really need sp3 but have a google search then you can decide from experts opinions
15 September, 2008 at 9:50 pm #371787thanking you. My pc is ill, and shuts down when I try to instal service pack three, but service pack 2 seems to be all I need to enable everything I download to work etc, but was a bit worried for the future.
Hopefully will be in a position to buy a new one at some point so Im not going to fret too much about updates.
15 September, 2008 at 9:55 pm #371788I’m sorry but our office is now closed.
Please ask again between the hours of 9am-5pm

can you repeat that and tell me my call is important?
oh that driver thing worked a treat by the way, cheers for that.
15 September, 2008 at 11:01 pm #371790If you are able to Sharon, you really ought to instal SP3. Basically it rolls up all the updates (security and otherwise) and enhances the functionality of numerous ‘hidden’ features of Windows XP. I have it on three computers and although it works in the background, it has caused me no difficulties whatsoever.
Sooner of later, you will be ‘forced’ to instal it as the Microsoft updates available for up to SP2 will become orogressivly fewer and fewer.
15 September, 2008 at 11:05 pm #371791yeah I kinda know Im going to have to have it at some point, but Im hoping to have a new downstairs PC soonish and thats why Ive not re-installed any of my photos/music etc, Im saving that long task for a new PC as I said this one is ill in the hardware somewhere…
Its a put-together PC by a friend and cost 300 quid 3 years ago. Im hoping(fingers crossed) to have a budget of £500 for a new PC….. so, any recommendations?
15 September, 2008 at 11:11 pm #371792Take a look at what Dell has to offer. http://www.pc-order.co.uk/uk/dell-offers/?cat=2&tracker=Brand&gclid=CPXJ0vP03pUCFSjdlAod-UTNXg <— this linky takes you to their September offers or simply go to http://www.dell.com
I terms of value for money they offer a pretty good deal. you can start with their basic configuration and then online you can add or subtract from it with extras as you wish. It is worth looking at their small business section and checking out their “Vostro” range (which are a lot cheaper that the “Inspiron” range.
