We can only wonder Dawny. Maybe it’s so they can start afresh, and make an a r s e of themselves all over again. Maybe it’s because never had any sense of identity in the first place. I reckon it’s because they have low self-esteem and feel vulnerable, so they adopt a new name and try to adopt a new persona which is as much of a false projection as their original one. Some kind of insecurity has to be at the root of it.

Some peeps do it to gain an advantage over others. Such people are not inclined to explain why they do it.

There was a guy a few years back, a reg, who felt pissed off with lots of peeps, and he came on with the identity of a woman. He used both his old and new name. As this new female user, he developed friendships with the guys he actually hated, this went on for months, during this time he gleaned all sorts of personal information about them, then when the time suited him, he struck.

He posted details of what he had done on other web-sites, naming names etc of male regs in JC, and he came back one night on here and told everyone, trying to embarress them. It’s not a difficult thing to do, but this guy really put his heart into it, over many months, developing this female identity. I think he suckered about half a dozen guys, all of whom became desparate to meet up with her ( or him ). I forget the 2 names he used, but people like me who never pc’d with him/her did chat to both of them in the room, and everyone thought the fake woman was real as she ( he ) kept it going for so long. He even used to chat like a woman, i.e. using the kinda language and terms that women tend to use.

And in case anyone is wondering if it was Olly or Neil, it wasn’t. They only did that kinda thing for short periods, over one or two nights, but this sad f..ker did it every night for about 4 months, and unlike Neil and Olly, he didn’t steal the pics of female JC users ( and send them out in emails to the guys ) to lend some air of authenticity to his false identity.

Olly and Neil did this kinda thing to get even with anyone who got the better of them in room chats/arguments/flaming etc, and loads of guys, including me were suckered, but this other guy as I recall only did it to the guys who spoke ill of him in his absence and who were two-faced. Olly and Neil did the same thing as far as telling the room regs was concerned, but they learned nothing personal about me that I hadn’t already told the room many times before.

It wouldn’t come as a surprise to learn that some of the male regs I’ve known for years are actually women, and vice versa.

For all I know Dawny, you might be a guy. You might be a dump-truck driver who is built like Arnold Schwarzenegger and hung like a shire horse.

No matter how wise and cautious you think you are, no matter what a good judge of character you think you are, all of us can be taken in by a clever and dedicated faker. This place is full of Walter Mitty-type characters, some are as devious as paedophiles, some are as industrious as bees, gathering information about you as eagerly as bees gather pollen. Yeah! Some of these sad f..kers even keep files on you.

Watch out for the fakers……..and beware of Elephants too.
