Mary, when and if her sanity is ever restored to her, the woman will more than ‘pay’ for this for the rest of her life. Her anguish is unimaginable.
As for not being excused for her actions – by dint of being detained under THE MENTAL HEALTH ACT that is exactly what the legal system will decree – that she IS excusable for her actions as she was not in possession of her mental faculties when she commited them.I doubt we are going to agree on any of this matter, Serial murderers are not sane, nor are drug abusers, infact I will go as far as saying that people in the demon drink are not sane either.
I know 2 murderers, one now serving life and the other 10 years, both lead there lives, happy and joyful, they are not sane men, they thought that it would be ok and kill someones parents, delusional thinking they are above the law.
wanting to kill someone is not sanity.
Like I said, we won’t agree, can we just leave it as a differ of opinions?
If it was due to Post Natal Psychosis i just find it tragic that the thing that caused her to kill was giving life
Pete, when I was lower than a snake ball bag with PND I wanted to end my own life at times, I was low, sometimes I didn’t want to be around the kids at all but not ever did I feel I wanted to kill my children, I am not saying she isn’t metally ill and my heart does go out to her in some respect but at the end of the day she is a murderer!
We concur on one thing at least, Sian – not that all murderers are insane (as psychiatrists and the legal system refute) – but that we’re never going to see eye to eye on this matter, and rather than continuing to give ourselves headaches from banging our bonces against the opposing brick walls of our respective craniums – yes – best to agree to differ. :wink:
Its not just here where we disagree, there will be experts on both sides of the case battling to proove their case and those are professionals who will be used to battling against each other in court rooms.
No use us getting exasperrated over it, we wont get paid!

I have known mothers who, in their deepest hours of PMD despair, say that they actually considered doing away with their kids. Only wildly thought it of course, and at that particular time as a terrible cry for help, and these are good loving parents. There are indeed some very dark chambers within the human heart.
