I’ve seen 39 Steps – the Robert Donat version is the only one worth seeing.
Also seen Schindler’s List. Very moving. Too intense to watch more that two or three times in a lifetime.

11 October, 2017 at 10:44 pm #1074975Well, I’ve still go my list of Criterion blurays for you to get at halfprice at Barnes and Noble. A trip to London to pick up some Criterions may well be a trip worth taking.

11 October, 2017 at 10:51 pm #1074979Scep get me the list so I can shop. You know girls look for bargain prices. I am organized …
And quick ?. Hope not sounding stupid as think u explained it, when find them, have to get right region for uk..??? So looking have to ask for region compatible..
You will get what u wish… if can find them. Heeeeeeeeeee I will, go after what I want or need usually….
Xxx12 October, 2017 at 9:45 am #1074994Linda, I know about region compatibility.
The USA is Region 1, the UK is Region 2.
UK manufacturers don’t want us Brits to see the superior discs produced in the USA (well Criterion are superior in quality anyway) so they take great steps to make sure we can’t watch anything from the USA.
I am one of many who’ve sidestepped this. I have a multi-regional player, and about half of my discs are Region 1.
So don’t worry. You won’t get any Criterion discs whihc are Region-free, but it doesn’t matter. just get the list I’ll send when the time comes – they are half-price at Barnes and Noble.
I go to London several times a year to visit my younger son, and Criterion are very expensive to get in this country (though a few UK discs are on sale) so I am serious x
