I can’t believe nobody’s mentioned Sons of Anarchy! The Men of Mayhem has to be one of the best series ever!

I didn’t mind Lost, and liked some from Linda’s list – True Blood, Highlander and of course love love love Game of Thrones.

I do find it difficult to find something to hold my interest though. I prefer an ongoing story rather than each episode being just another case such as in Criminal Minds.

I’m a bit afraid to go back and watch the oldies – just in case I don’t enjoy them as much 35 years on. I loved Tales of The Unexpected and Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) but don’t want to tarnish my memory of them.

Didn’t understand the fuss about Breaking Bad, I watched a couple and gave up.

Any recommendations are very welcome though  :mail:

BTW – hate nearly all reality TV and soaps…

Omg King I remember tales of the unexpected very well. Brings back memories. Did you watch armchair thriller as well?

These days I like Criminal Minds and The Walking Dead. Dont mind game of thrones either.

Cant stand soaps or reality tv like BB.. and X factor. Boring.

Armchair Thriller that’s a new one to me, never heard of that Jane, I see it’s on Amazon though, volumes 1-10, will try that out once I am done with all the Tales of the Unexpected episodes ;)

I’ve went off reality TV too, not even watched X Factor this year, I do occasionally watch Coronation St and Emmerdale but only if it’s on, don’t go out my way to watch it.

Criminal Minds I will check out too, I gave up on the Walking Dead a long time ago lol

Oh…when did you give up on TWD? Season 8 starts fairly soon. Criminal Minds has started it’s 13th season. Fantastic show.  Armchair thriller used to scare me lol.

Did you watch Starsky and Hutch? Or am I giving my age away lol. The Sweeney was another favourite with the late great John Thaw.

I must admit to falling in love wit one of the nurses – the brunette – in Emergency Ward 10.

I also thought Richard Chamberlain was a very responsible as well as handsome doctor in Dr Kildare. I would have felt safe if I had to have a serious operation if Dr Kildare was in charge of me, oh yes.

I also felt safe in the care of PC Dixon in Dixon of Dock Green. I didn’t find the moustachioed detective in No Hiding Place very interesting.

Bringing it up to date, I agree with Jane about the fuss created by Breaking Bad. It had its moments (of humor) but it wasn’t the first-rate series everyone was claiming it to be. The Wire was a lot better.

True Detectives held me in its grip. The second season was very good, but spoiled because I was expecting it to be of the same type as the first.

The first season is in the ranks of the immortals. Set in the backcountry of Louisiana – an exotic state, the only one in whihc voodoo has an influence – the sense of sheer evil, along with the rich characters of the two detectives exploring a series of satanic killings and ritual sacrifice – made this among the very best of television. A third series is being made.

Great new show starting soon on BBC with Kit Harrington from G.O.T about Guy Fawkes and the gun powder plot. Looks great.

But everything looks great to you, Mr q!

Try True Detectives for an antidote.

    Scep…

Since the other day have been laughing with a catchy song in my head. Should find and listen..

“Rollin, Rollin….sound of a cracked whip.” Hee hee.

Yes I remember those you mention. Some one mention Starsky/Hutch, popped in my head, Dixie.

What about Mod Squad? Streets of San Franciso. Sunset Strip, kojack..

When looking at some series today on regular, really do not watch many, except some mentioned previously…

Have good day, thanks for sharing.

Now move over, give me buttery popcorn let us watch some. Ah, oldies. Hee hee

    Xx

Thanks Sceptical Guy but far too much Detective stuff on T.V. as is cookery shows. I do enjoy a classic episode of Midsomer Murders though. Reason i recommend Fawkes is it’s an interesting part of history and as well as that, he started off as a nice guy. LOLOL

I doubt you would like True Detectives, mister q. It’s not like normal detective shows.

Linda, Rawhide was great. That song expresses the attitude of many men towards women – “Don’t try to understand ’em, just rope and tie and brand ’em.  Was never too keen on 77 Sunset Strip.

My hero was Uncle Fester from The Addams Family. I used to wander around the house and stick a light-bulb in my mouth.

My sister still hasn’t recovered from what happened after watching an episode from Tales of the Unexpected. I went upstairs, put a white sheet over me, and went whoooo when she climbed up. She couldn’t stop screaming. My parents did no take kindly to my antics.
