I spotted an interesting article today about a fantastic new syndrome. It’s the latest form of delusional behaviour where sufferers are convinced that their lives are being played out in front of an audience. A sort of reality TV show if you will.
Now here’s the interesting bit. It appears that internet users are particularly prone to displaying symptoms of this syndrome and are passively encouraged to become more and more involved with their online persona to the extent that they come to believe that this is what they are REALLY like.
One example of this is where they transform total strangers, whom they have never met, into close personal friends. In effect they become ”friends” with a total stranger, based on the image the stranger has portrayed online, and claim to “know” this person – sometimes intimately.
Sounds familiar??? Could it be that you are suffering from Truman Show Syndrome???
