Just my method to keep a topic going that interests me. *smiley face* I agree Moose with your last few sentences, absolutely. However the OP made a set of specific, if you like, judgments. I think a direct response in relation to those specific judgments and the logic behind them is an understandable reaction. Then his view can be directly analyzed, questioned and challenged, or not. In my opinion no one responded to his question directly, because it was so confrontational. Maybe out of good manners for others on this site, he should explain the difference between an “alpha”, a “wannabe” and a “bully in direct relation to this site and which was the meat behind his initial question. As he asks Sceptical for a further explanation, it is entirely reasonable to expect the same courtesy from him.

Sigh. It’s been a long day but felt the need , gezza not sure how well you know malley from the room ? I’ve chatted on and off a few years, I have to say I have never, ever seen him be confrontational to anyone, nor nasty , abusive, or loud. Only pleasant and good fun. Maybe tho this is a valid point, as I know him to a certain extent, I didn’t see the thread as at all confrontational ? I assumed it was posted as the words ‘ bully” victim ‘ ‘ fake’ etc etc had been bandied about like confetti on the threads that have now been removed. Maybe however , to ppl that don’t ‘ know’ him it could have come across as ‘confrontational’ ? I don’t know the answer to that one !

    I’m sure you’re both ‘ Alphas ‘  :bye:     ;-) off home now. Laters !!  B-)

I think you can only have alpha males in the animal kingdom. One does not just declare themselves to be an Alpha, it is bestowed upon you by your pack. I just think this whole alpha male thing is a total melodramatic exaggerated masculine disorder of the brain.

Personally I wouldn’t have linked the question to such an extreme example and then used negative language like “wannabe” and “bully” in relation to that question and indirectly suggest a direct correlation. But you carry, I hope others give you the answers, you “selfishly” seek.

You mean we all do things differently?

It’s not a battle of “alpha’s” though is it. Just debate and interpretation of that debate. Have no idea why you thought I was being personal. *shrug* Get yourself home and pour a nice glass of wine.

No its not a battle at all , or at least it shouldn’t be

Erm I didn’t think you were being personal ?

I was just saying that as I have knowledge of Malley’ s MO, we may have seen the thread from different perspectives, that’s all ……..

I think Gerry has a point; TC asks for specific points and asks for debate. he then provides a laid-back answer which doesn’t rally answer his own questions.

However, TC being the laid-back, lovable and lazy git he always comes across in the cartoon character he admits to all with a style as cool as The Fonz from Happy Days. More fool us.

TC, you ask me why I assumed you liked alpha-males. Well, I could give a reply, but you’ve inspired me to say that maybe I’ll reply later :rose:

Anyone can say anything about alpha-simpletons, alpha-c**ts or alpha-males, but it’s interesting that even TC doesn’t move far from the definition given by the guy who invented the concept. Konrad Lorenz stresses that it’s in the pack, the animal kingdom, that the alpha-male exists. A leader among animals, he kills opponents mercilessly and protects the family, the tribe. St Alfie also uses biological charts to show this as an alpha-male, though the saint’s original  definition sounded more like Mario (cue for Jamie) or even St Alfie himself (?, at least as he may possibly think of himself).

It’s also interesting that TC follows Lorenz in seeing the alpha-male as born, not made. A weird sort of unexplained biological determinism. have to disagree, TC, but can’t be bothered atm to explain why.

The idea of the alpha-male, Sophia, was to point to the animal kingdom and then use that to show how men in our own animal kingdom (human) operate.

I knew someone whose dad was an alpha-male. he loved and protected his family, and had no scruples in defending them. When some lad picked on his lad, he confronted the bully’s dad and punched his head in in front of the dad’s boy. I mean punched his head ion – the guy was beaten to the ground, then lifted, and then had his face punched again and again relentlessly until it was a bleeding pulp. It was done in front of the 8 year old boy to teach him a lesson not to pick on his kid or else. I assume the boy was absolutely traumatised. The guy couldn’t go to the cops for gbh as it would have hurt him much more if he had done so – don’t ask why.

makes some of the characters on jc look like pansies.

I prefer this type of alpha-male

he may not be a movie star but when it comes to being happy – we are..

some need to do some cleaning, some need a wash, and that poor dog, look at the state of it, as for the all American…. least said soonest mended. grow up sprang to mind.

Alphas? look after people (their brood/pack.)
