no longer earned they are just purchased
10 May, 2008 at 11:27 pm #335181guess it depends on what sport we are talking about, money however is earnt in football by winning things, winning things is done by spending money
its a vicious circle, unless you make money in other ways of life, then buy a football club, then it is solo earnt by spending money
11 May, 2008 at 12:40 pm #335182you can argue thats always being the case
i suppose a good example is leeds
serves them right for daring to tryfootball will go bust i have said this since sky intervened
if sky football pulls the plug every club would go into administration11 May, 2008 at 4:39 pm #335183Forumula One is back on BBC next year because ITV didn’t want to pay out for it. If Sky drops football (though I doubt they would), someone else will bite their hands off for it. The BBC and ITV would love to get football back, and maybe would work out a way to pay for it. If they don’t someone else would. I think it would be a good thing for football if Sky did pull the plug. It has been so unfair since they got involved. How are teams supposed to break into the trophy positions, they are struggling even just a little way down the Premier League. Maybe the top few teams should split off into a European Super League, and leave the field open.
Or, let them all go into administration, start it all up again from scratch with a fairer system.

somone will always pay a lot to have the rights to show football as its the number 1 most watched sport in the world, money on advertising alone must be mega.. wonder how much ford pay sky just to sponser the football alone

the housing market
take out the first time buyers it will implode
as will all structures without a base13 May, 2008 at 12:00 am #335186Dont know why Sky are getting critisised.
English Premier League would be a shadow of what it is now in terms of quality without Sky. The difference between the old English First Division, pre-Sky and the Premier League of today is immense in terms of quality.Three English Teams in the last 4 of the Champions League arguably wouldn’t have happened without their cash.
What’s more If Sky ever went bust, half the English League clubs would follow them under.
Dont kid yourselves that some other Sugar Daddy broadcaster would come and be prepared to pay the same money that Sky do.13 May, 2008 at 12:07 am #335187@Bad Manners wrote:

Now we’re lucky if we can match teams in the Championship.
