Now that our nuclear deterrent needs replacement, I see four options.
1) Replace it with a bought-in American system – as is proposed.
2) Give up our independent nuclear deterrent and rely on the ‘protection’ of the USA.
3) Design and build our own nuclear deterrent – what we should be doing.
4) Give up nukes completely, get US any nukes off our soil too and tell the Americans to ‘keep out of it’ when somewhere like Iran starts to threaten us!I know why we had to have Trident last time, the gov thought we all need more excise and it was a good way to get people out in the fresh air marching.
The moaning about it helped too.
And there were the Russians to worry about.
But now I think we should be spending money on a missiles defence system, not replacing Trident.
After all, they never used Trident.
It was a total waste of money.
Use them or loose them that’s what I say.
Made me larf tut other day. Army sergent sort of blokey on tv saying we need to update our nuclear war capabilities incase al’queda attack us.
At first thought, you’d think, good one ol’chap, we need protecting, but which country government is al’queda?
