Well, I was in London yesterday, first time in ages. My son lives in – it’s true – Stratford.

We went by train because we were advised to steer clear of the roads

That city is not good. A lot of the character has gone from the days I lived there – parts looked like a le Corbusier fantasy. The skyline is horrible. The Shard gave me the frighteners as I got out of the tube and was told by my son to look up to the top of ‘that building’. I kept wondering if a SAM missile might fire at me if the sun caught the glint of my specs the wrong way.

Walked through an ocean of peeps (I am thinking of taking a patent out on that word before anc does) along the riverbank from London Bridge to South Bank, and thence walked over the bridge to Charing Cross and into the West End. Not recommended. Me feets is swelled, I got a bad blister from me sandal rubbing against the skin and me soul is tired.

My son is wonderful, by the way, as I’m sure most of your children are wonderful. He gladdened my heart amidst the seething mass of rushing traffic and multiple types of character in the faces you see.
