There are a huge number of people, possibly the majority of the population who are capable of killing in the right set of circumstances.. simply because someone hasn’t encountered those circumstances in their life doesn’t make them any superior morally or otherwise to those that have. If an individual you knew slaughtered a family member and the next day ” in cold blood” you were able to locate them and kill them then the law would classify it as ” cold blooded murder” with a mandatory life sentence but in reality it’s a far different crime morally than butchering a jogger in a park for nothing other than entertainment purposes .

Of course silly individuals like Mrs S would brand both as murder  if the law says so, subsequently translating to  both being equally evil and the work of satan. The real world isn’t as black and white as people like him think

    Interesting folks..

    Legal American system states following..

    “KILLER”…killing of 3 or more victims..Separate events..Rest periods between killings….

“Murderer”..intentional killing..no prior intent to kill..under such circumstances caused emotional stress.

I was gonna “like” this but then thought i should clarify why.

Rude, most of your opinions and views are just completely alien to me but i absolutely agree with your first paragraph.

You and i disagree about God.

I dont believe anyone should take a life but killing isnt always murder.

Hi Nem, nice to see you posting

Barras had 29 previous convictions. 29! Including 7 for theft and 6 for fraud. The lad was only 16 yet he had 29 convictions!”

That disturbs me as much as anything, and there are kids like this all over the country and from varying cultures and groups. What home life have they experienced ? what care or support ? What discipline or love ?  Don’t get me wrong I’m not doing a bleeding heart ‘oh the poor lad etc etc’, but when you think about it, and wonder how these kids are gonna turn out in our society it is kinda scary ….

29 convictions, presumably not all in his 16th year, so how young was he when it started ? and whose fault was it then ? when he really was just a kid !!

    Its heartbreaking.

Not every kid from a poor or bad background turns to crime, not every criminal is evil but what chance do some of these kids really have? We live in a world that applauds material things yet make them increasingly hard to obtain.

Rude made a few points in the depression thread that would fit well here, we study things we will never use (unless you follow the educated career route) we work for sweet fanny adams then we are allowed to retire just in time to die… paraphrasing but you get the gist.

My heart goes out to Barras and his family, im not a monster and i agree the poor lad probably didnt have much chance but there are kids out there who succeed despite their circumstances.

Not many Nem, not without some sort of outside intervention, be it a teacher, foster parent etc, without outside intervention they just continue the family circuit, as Ge would say, rinse, repeat on and on.  :negative:

So true..some need the helping hand. With out that support or it being available, will continue to live in a cycle of uncertainty.  True meaning of what is right or wrong in society as too young to really understand impact..consequences.

I too agree Rude does often make very very good points.. makes you think outside the box..thank you..

    Agreed…

How do we stop it though?

These kids need help…. i saw an article a few weeks ago about Robert Thompson. His dad walked out when he was 5, his mum was depressed, made several attempts to kill herself. Before killing Bulger he had no record of violence, he hasnt reoffended since his release. He has expressed remorse over what he did and openly admits that he got a better life through prison. How tragic is that?
