    No, i didnt.

Martin attended meetings with the National Front and supports the BNP. One of his uncles by marraige founded the NF. I totally disagree with his politics but i defend his right to protect what is his.

Fearnon claimed for, and got, legal aid to sue Martin for “loss of earnings” due to his injuries… seriously??

Barras had 29 previous convictions. 29! Including 7 for theft and 6 for fraud. The lad was only 16 yet he had 29 convictions!

Sure, Martin had an illegal firearm. Sure, he killed someone but i dont see it as murder. They had to be there to be shot.

Nem, Jamie has already said that the lad was a wrong ‘un. He had form, he knew what he was doing, he should have been punished.

The problem is whether illegal entry and/or theft should be punished by the death sentence. I can imagine someone being killed in a panic – it’s terrifying when someone comes into your house like that. When guns were legal, I wondered how I’d react, and thought that I’d shoot to wound, but fear can drive any of us to extreme actions.

But Martin seemed to be ready to kill, and all his supporters seemed to think he was right to kill. It wasn’t panic, or an attempt to frighten. It was shoot to kill.

I wouldn’t like to lose my books. I would want to defend what is mine. But there  are certain limits on how you defend them. Burning someone’s face off with a blowtorch is regarded as out of all proportion to someone trying to steal your best cutlery, for example.

Mitigating circumstances, remorse over having killed someone is one thing. This guy was there to shoot to kill, and killing was out of all proportion to the crime.

Theft and illegal entry are crimes whihc demand punishment – but death isn’t the punishment, for whatever age. The fact that the lad was only 16 just makes it all the more horrible.

Fair point scep but i stand by what i said.

Personally, id never own a gun though id love to be able to handle one.

Do i think Martin over reacted? Yes. Im not saying he was right to kill Barras, he wasnt. It should never have happened but to paint Martin as some evil monster just waiting to murder someone isnt fair.

The fact remains Barras shouldnt have been there.

The only thing i would kill for is if i had to do so to save my daughter. I dont believe anyone has the right to take another life but i dont see Martin as a cold blooded muderer.

Oh he is a cold blooded murderer though. He sed the next one to come in to my house i will kill them.He killed one and nearly killed another.

Evryone has a right to protect there home, thats a given. Its not a given to kill them though.

He should have warned them,he sed he would do exactley the same again, hes proud of his actions. He was justly covicted of murder. No way should it have been comuted to man slaughter. He never phoned the police,he knew he hit them, told the police a pack of lies.Evryone is entitled to there opinion we just dont see eye to eye on this.

Evryone has a right to protect there home, thats a given. Its not a given to kill them though. He was shooting in the dark, how well could he see?

Not sure how to quote properly so ive used bold. Jamie, im not saying Barras deserved to die but you cant dispute that he shouldnt have been there in the first place. Its not like Martin targetted Barras specifically, he didnt choose his victim.

personally i dont actually agree with what Martin did but you have to allot blame to Barras and Fearnon too.

im happy to hold a different opinion and i may well be wrong but to me Martin isnt a muderer, a killer, yes. Murderer, no.

Ofcorse there blame with the robers. What im saying is Mrtin is a murderer.

    #1109981

    Murderer or killer?

Is there a difference to you?

“Martin is a murderer” so what? John Smith comes back to his house and finds someone raping his daughter subsequently beating him to death in rage and shooting him. “John Smith is a murderer” as well, it doesn’t make him or Tony Martin the anti Christ. Not all killers and murderers are evil despite your opinion to the contrary.
