I was until the war. Funny how many people at the time would answer an argument against the war with a reference to friends or family serving in the military, as if they made the choice to invade.

Pol..I cringed when I saw that you’d posted a message on this thread. We agree on most things, but this isn’t one of them.
I’ve been a member of The Labour Party – I was even harangued into filling in a survey (posted to me five times by Sheffield University) wanting to know why new members had decided to join the party. Back then it was obvious to me. These days it isn’t.
Tony Blair changed things in a dramatic and unnecessary way for this country and people are rightly angry about that. He’s never received a knighthood and I – for one – applaud that decision as I’m sure many millions of other people in this country do.

5 May, 2012 at 7:01 am #495161I can’t see anything in the news about his return to British politics…I know he’s always lurking round the edges, wanting a New Labour revival via David Miliband.
I remember Miliband when he was hanging around the postgrad common room at Corpus. He would hold court with several sycophants hanging on his every word. Something quite creepy about it. He was learning to say little while making it sound real good. He was already famous before he became famous because of his dad. He fits naturally with Blair, and I beleieve the two have been working together for quite some time.
What bad can you say about Uncle Tony, Lord of the Cluster-bomb and child-butcher?
Everyone was drunk as a lord on the night of his 1st electin victory but for me. I hated him form the word go – his smile betrayed his school prefrect’s attitude – the sort who reports on any boy he catches smoking or committing any other sin. He was born for official success, and his total support of banking-let-rip and free markets has not really helped us imho.
I thought he was becoming PR man for that poor African general employing child-soldiers?? The one they’re after for war-crimes? If anyone can make that guy look good, it’s our smiling lad.
5 May, 2012 at 9:52 am #495162Sceptical Guy – Blair’s return to politics was highlighted in a Daily Mail article.
Blair is the guy who – during his 10 years in office – created nearly 4,000 new laws, none of which were needed.
He’s made many people’s lives a misery.
And he was a participant in a war that cost thousands of lives. The next time I want to see his name in the paper is the day that he fears most and is dreading: Tony Blair to stand trial.
5 May, 2012 at 10:04 am #495163I dont think he will return to British politics not in the traditional way anyway.
He will become an ambassador somewhere… be wined and dined and hold dinners for his celebrity sycophant friends and foreign dignitaries.
He will of course receive a massive salary… compliments of the British taxpayer for all his hard work. :D
