There i was innocently cycling home today and a car behind me seemed to be following me…it slowly passed me and slowed in front of me, a man + woman…..i passed and the guy got out and shouted something @ me….i stopped and turned and said wats up…he called me over and said its the police come here… i cycled closer and met him half way..the woman stayed in the car….he said where you off? i said what!!! he said i am a police officer and i am on the look out for criminals on cycles who had been committing robbery….he showed me his card…i said im goin home….WHY?….he said we just need to search you and make sure you have no tools or effects of robbery on you…i told him he couldnt search me and i was not answering any of his questions..this went on for about 10 mins…the woman got out and came over..lol…she immediatley took control and said here mate…we need to search you and then she grabbed my arm and twisted it behind my back..the otherone quickly cuffed me and pulled me off my bike..shoved me over to the car..the woman said we can do this here or your coming with us….i knew at this point that i would have spent the best part of the nite locked up…i let them search me..off i went….. no charge ffs…..chekout the notice they gave me…. :x

“i am a police officer and i am on the look out for criminals on cycles who had been committing robbery”
He was doing his job as far as i can see
4 March, 2010 at 11:33 pm #435132Past experience with the law has shown me that…they can be the most corruptable, decietful, hateful and amongst other things devious and manipulative of all authority….
I was dressed in a fairly tight fitting track suit with very small pockets.
I had no bag or compartments on the bike.
I made no attempt to scarper when he told me at a distance of 15/20 yrds who he was.
I have very little respect for the law, namely because of past experience and knowing full well what these people are capable of….had it not been for important things that needed doing, i would happily have taken it all the way…. while i agree that stop and search in general will result in criminal capture minimally, it was plainly obvious i had no tools or bags of swag on my person yet they man handled me and insisted they search me…..when he finished searching me, he then asked me my date of birth….i replied…had you searched me as you no doubt should carry out a search….you will have come across my wallet in the top pocket of my top…..the wallet he failed to find…..a search without searching then……… very professional…. sadly, because of the arrogance and blatant hostility i have suffered at the hands of ` the law ` i refuse to volunteer any information to them……if on the other hand, i was to witness certain crimes, then of course morally i cannot refuse
5 March, 2010 at 12:01 am #435133Power corrupts occassionally, and part of the problem is the lack of respect police get nowadays as compared to say 40 yr ago.
There’ll always be bad apples but if the police go about it with the right attitude explaining (dependant on circumstances) why they’re doing something then those that object maybe have something to hide. In this case they sound a tad cocky5 March, 2010 at 7:53 am #435134well Gaz you certainly committed a crime when you decided to wear “a fairly tight fitting tracksuit with small pockets”…me thinks thats the reason you were stopped
5 March, 2010 at 9:16 am #435135i agree i think the fashion police do a valuable and worthwhile job keeping lycra and cycle shorts off our streets…….im also thinking its a good job he didnt have his david ike book in his saddle bag
