Although people might know I’m a republican and a supporter of the EU, I am also patriotic.
For a long time I have felt it a shame that our national flag, the Union Jack (or technically the Union Flag) has been hijacked by the far-right, like the BNP, to the extent that it is seen by some to be a symbol of the far right.So I suggest that in future Labour, Lib Dems and the Conservatives all feature the Union Jack prominently in their visual profile – like on conference stages and in their propaganda.
This would feature alongside party logos, and, as appropriate, the Scottish, Welsh or English flags or indeed that of the EU, according to the circumstances.
If the mainstream parties all agree to showcase the Union Jack with pride, then we will have wrenched it from the grasp of the BNP, which is only patriotic in the same sense that Robert Mugabe is patriotic to Zimbabwe!

and robert mugabe is what you get when you take power from a right wing facist. rule britannia my friend the flag is our signature of strength and determination for equality for all and for free speech. for ALL and that includes the bnp followers.

We still get our Union Jack out at parties and stuff. Be proud of our Britishness.
I find it hard to think of things to be proud of most of the time though :oops:

I find so much to be proud of…so much still to be put right but this country belongs to me, it is in my blood and it always will be
