Interesting.. paths, routes are made especially for bikers and walkers use. (Here)
Bikers use main roads and highways as long as wear protective gear. Think car accidents, loss of life reason. But bikers allowed to stay in far right lanes only to travel, not mixed in vehicle traffic. Again in case flat tires on bikes, falls and such…1 member liked this post.

My neighbor had an old fashion one, 2 seat front, back. Do not see them today, rare. But no longer wanted, got on ebay. Sold it, but local pickup.
Perhaps those looking for bike(s) can try ebay and look for those local sellers.. people have also been talking about umm. Walopop. Think what is called. Spelling? Local trade….buy/ sell….

6 August, 2017 at 12:04 am #1064190I always wear a helmet on the roads these days Linda and i wear elbow pads most of the time (especially racing) as i’ve had a few accidents over the years and always bash one of my elbows badly. I smashed into a car once or twice, swerved at car doors opening and fell off, pedal broke once and i fell off in the middle of the round about and others. could have been run over at any one of those incidents so i was very lucky or fortunate.
Not actually sure if it’s a legal requirement over here to wear a helmet as many don’t but i’d always advise it these days. I always wear some sort of glasses as well as it can be really dangerous if one gets a fly or other entity in one’s eye as has happened a lot. I’ve fallen off my bike due to it.

6 August, 2017 at 12:07 am #1064192I’ve bought many parts off e-bay and ordered whole bikes off there as well….no problems but i always contact the seller first and ask all the questions about how it will be packaged etc and ask for more photos which they are always willing to do.
6 August, 2017 at 12:10 am #1064194A lot of bike shops moan that every one goes on line to buy parts etc but when ever one goes into a bike shop to get some thing these days …they say they’ll order it…to which i think…well if your going to order it any way and charge me an extra ten or twenty pounds, i might as well order it my self. I rely on bike shops for some maintenance work like crank refitting as i don’t like to mess with cranks but most other things i can do myself.

6 August, 2017 at 10:31 am #1064212Cyclists – disrupting the peace and hairing down canal paths / riversides / mountain banks / etc then taking the train because they are too Lycra clad/sweaty to finish their own trips. Staying in “bike friendly” hotels which tend to be dives or for the skint and hipster types among us.
Even worse the cyclists who drive with 4 a breast crappy MTB`s on the roof and then park whizz around holiday parks thinking they are Mary Poppins or Dixon of Dock Green.
No time for bikes unless they are just off PMT

6 August, 2017 at 12:36 pm #1064226Well you have a few valid points turbo. I’m a hard line cyclist that doesn’t believe in using public transport. I have pulled out of many a bike ride with mates and club etc as they always seem to want to go a certain distance then get the train or van home. I always feel my self that a cycle trip isn’t a cycle trip unless one is prepared to go the return distance on a bike as well. People say…well i want to go 100 miles and i say….well go 50 then cycle back 50 a different route. That’s just me though and the way i feel about it as there are many different reasons, health and otherwise that people do things fitness wise so it’s not fair to judge.
I carry my own food cycling as well as one sees many cyclists going into cafes, restaurants what have you and it raises the question of hygiene. After all, some one else has to sit on the chair after you. I’ve known many who stop off at the pub as well, get totally wrecked and carry on.
I always plan a cycling trip that involves just cycling. If i don’t think i can get back..i don’t set out that far in the first place.
I have been cycling since i was a small kid and obviously many things have changed but i was always self taught to have a rule of cycling manners. It’s an interesting question raised by a M8 once over lunch on a trip….Should cyclists have to pay to use the roads like vehicle drivers do?
6 August, 2017 at 12:52 pm #1064230No you should not have to pay. Vehicle weight and bikes different. Plus bikes do not destroy the environment or air quality as vehicles do. Funds collected pay for road infrastructures. Air quality control devises and so forth….
Smile…
Linda6 August, 2017 at 1:24 pm #1064236To be honest Linda……when they make bikes in the first place…doesn’t that add to the pollution ? I mean…bikes are either metals or carbons so the damage has been done with bikes long before they get on the road?
