Lol Batty, blast from the past, we loved our stews and literally licked the plate clean like starving wolves, looking hungrily to see if mum or dad didn’t eat all theirs cos we weren’t allowed to leave table until everyone else had finished eating and don’t forget the dumplings! Oh ye and as chicken got cheaper and more readily available, traditional roast on a Sunday followed by a chicken left overs “curry” of sorts on the Monday, but with spuds not rice, you can still buy traditional curry sauce, god knows what’s in it but I do enjoy the nostalgia now and then and still buy a tin/jar or keep one in the cupboard.
Ahhh yes, mums leftover chicken curry. It was a kind of gloopy yellow stuff, but it tasted yum.
My nan made the best yorkshire,puddings. Hers had sultanas in. Nom. And she could make great ruff puff pastry. Her apple pies and lumpy custard was legendary. Those were the days.
Oh, did you ever try pompagne? First time was at the Queens silver jubilee. Was rank, but I thought I was grown up lol.

Actually like curry, but not too hot! Yellow rice, saffron spices..
I make every New Year’s Spanish Paella. Yellow rice, fish assortment, meats, chicken, pork. Olives (black) peas, mushroons, onions, chicken broth…
Also as miss my mom’s cooking, showed me much, cooked with her, cook much myself..carried on certain traditions. Meatballs, Lasagna, cakes, beads, dessets… it is the cookies have difficult time with…some..Oatmeal, mom’s the best…Soft chewy..mine sometimes too hard…
