Travelling around America recently i came across third world poverty in a so called first world country. Skid row in LA down town a stones throw from hollywood glitz and glamour of rodeo drive beverly hills. 50 blocks of homeless people over 8,000 living in tents or make shift carboard homes. If any walls needs tearing down its this wall of shame that has been allowed to happen. San Francisco’s tender loin area have the same problem! Talking to some people in the hotel and restaurant trades they say they live paycheck to paycheck and are only one away from a park bench! Ten mins after passing skid row is a different world shops where you have to have an appointment just to get in! old and new movie stars has beens and wannabes walking around wanting to be seen. I did see one female legend being interviewed still stunning at 91 Gina Lollobrigida in LA where she was being honored at the L.A. Italian Culture Festival . Amazing in red high heel boots. Lady gaga walking her dog, we had seen her two night previous performing in MGM Grand in Las vegas with a surprise guest Bradly cooper.

Did you know Elvis is alive? met him on a bridge crossing in Las Vegas as he came out of the MGM Grand!

    Excellent post.

But surely there is no poverty in the US!

I read it in that Trumper, Cleared to Land’s post!!

Has Sophia been doctoring the photos used in the OP, and her experiences??

Or maybe Cleared to land is using posts of doctored figures by the Trumper Heritage Foundation??

The Heritage Foundation wants an end to Medicare, Medicaid, and the War on Poverty. none of them are needed now, because there is no poverty.

And think of all the tax cuts in store for the honest hard-working rich people.

The question on the table had to do with “abject poverty” which I responded to.  You erroneously extrapolated what was being discussed to “poverty” in general and, in the process, distorted and mischaracterized my post.

I never denied persons, with personal issues, are struggling for one reason or another.  So, again, refrain from writing on my behalf and insinuating things I haven’t claimed; you’re not my representative nor do your views don’t represent mine.

Now, let’s consider the California homeless specifically, the subject of this post.  The homeless consist of military veterans, the mentally ill, criminal transients, drug addicts, and those who choose to live on the streets, etc.

It’s failed, and failing, liberal policies, including things like anti-poverty programs that resist work requirements, entrenched social service programs that seek to expand their “customer” base, disastrous laws and court rulings, overly-restrictive rent control, overly-restrictive land use policy and zoning laws (all of which discourage and prevent cost-effective construction of housing), a cultish insistence that people be shoe-horned into urban centers to reduce their “carbon footprint” and, the darling cause of liberals everywhere, extreme environmentalism.  All of these things, the result of majority Democratic rule in California, are direct contributors to the problem of homelessness in California, and the plight of its most vulnerable citizens.  And that’s not even including the topic of deference to illegal aliens over their own citizens.

Here’s but one example:  California Assembly Bill (AB) 109, which passed in 2011, released to the streets tens of thousands of “non-violent” criminals (drug dealers and thieves) from county jails due to overcrowding.  They were released with no way to monitor and, more importantly, assist their transition back into society.  Furthermore, many were struggling with mental illness and drug addiction and ended up on the streets.  Deliberately adding to the homeless population, now there’s a winning strategy.

The photos of California homeless associated with this thread, and your “appeal to emotion” photo of the man on the bench (which I’m willing to bet was taken in California) in another post, serve to visually illustrate my point.  So I thank both of you for them; for bringing attention to the plight of those suffering at the hands of “compassionate and caring” California elitist liberals.  California is a cesspool of liberal overzealousness, incompetence, and out-of-touch extremism.

Despite trying to present yourself as deeply knowledgeable on all things U.S., you appear to lack even the basic knowledge of the existence of state and local governments and their impact on their citizenry, let alone being qualified to provide commentary on the more intricate workings of American life.  You also seem to be under the illusion that California is the entirety of the United States and that it defines it.  Thank God nothing could be further from the truth.  California liberals actually make east coast liberals look halfway normal.

The Solar System is the gravitationally bound planetary system of the Sun and the objects that orbit it, either directly or indirectly. Of the objects that orbit the Sun directly, the largest are the eight planets, with the remainder being smaller objects, such as the five dwarf planets and small Solar System bodies. Of the objects that orbit the Sun indirectly—the moons—two are larger than the smallest planet, Mercury.

After a long drawn out thought process, I have come to the conclusion, that it’s either my Earth or Uranus that is from the third world poverty style.

Although what planet you lot are on,  god only knows
